actually when on, engine not running the light should be on. once the engine starts running, within few secs the light should go off. if takes a longer time like 10 secs or so to go off. ur engine oil not enuff.

Im riding Ver S what KM would u all like to noe?

change EO, Ver S

No filter change is 2.7L

filter change is 2.9L

My advice is to give a little bit more maybe say 50ml more cos muz consider the oil need to go up wif the pistons to the cylinders.Use the dip stick as a guide.

Thanks man for the replies.

Due to my accident, the bike was at the workshop/ carpark for 4 mths liao, only warming up every 2-3 days for 10 mins.

The last oil change was 5 mths back. :faint:

I suppose it's way overdue, so hopefully if by next month can ride, I will go and change the engine oil, plugs, filter, coolant...etc

If cant ride, then I L-L have to DIY to save that $40 towing $$$.

I DIY in my SP before, but never the S4.

I got a few qns to ask:

1) Where's the nut to drain out the oil? Size? Are there are seals or gaskets?

2) What grade of oil u reccomend? Looking for a lower-mid end stuff. I suppose petrol kiosks dun sell these bike E.O rite?

3) The filter must change now? Cos I just changed it 5 mths back, juz a norm filter, not K&N. But since I not running the bike, must change now?

4) Coolant can DIY? Just top up? Is there a main and reserve reservoir for coolant?

Thanks man.

1) Where's the nut to drain out the oil? Size? Are there are seals or gaskets?

ans: at the bottom of the engine(only one nut), diff bike diff size, no gasket/seal

2) What grade of oil u reccomend? Looking for a lower-mid end stuff. I suppose petrol kiosks dun sell these bike E.O rite?

ans: full syn best liao, i use castrol R4(not bad) 15/bt(LAB)

3) The filter must change now? Cos I just changed it 5 mths back, juz a norm filter, not K&N. But since I not running the bike, must change now?

ans: air filter must change 6 monthly, use K&N one la $55 (LAB) can wash reuse... remind: new air filter very smooth but will consume more petrol for the first few day of riding...

4) Coolant can DIY? Just top up? Is there a main and reserve reservoir for coolant?

the coolant very ma fan one... ask mech to do it.. last time i drain and top by my mech in JB... he open nut from the block and release air.. prevent air lock...

depends on wat kind of oil u using. since u mention 5000km, i assume u r toking about fully syn oil. for fully syn, its 5000Km or 6 mths whichever comes 1st.

there r other factors which u might want to follow too. things like time & distance on avg u use daily. if u ride a veri short avg distance daily, ur bike might not be able to reach the operation temp, which causes the engine oil to spoil earlier

Hi all,

I recently check my engine oil dip when bike is straight, there is no oil on the dip. Should i pour some more engine oil? Can mix wit other engine oil? Or leave it as it is?

Dec'03 - Honda NSR 150SP - FT****B

Dec'04 - Honda PGM 250SP - FN****G

May'05 - SYM Joyride 200 - FZ****E

Feb'06 - Super Four Ver.S - FQ***R (bike stolen)

Apr'08 - Wave S 125 - FW****X

???????? - What's next??? - ??****?

Did you screw in the dip and take out to check?

If you checked this way and found that no oil on the dip,Suggest that you change

your EO asap lor. Joyride only takes 1 bottle right?

*Don't play play with EO, it's the main liquid in your bike. Hee!

Life's a gift... That's why they called it the present.

form my understanding it is okay to just add. but dun top up till overflow cos that is bad for your engine too...

however, if $$$ is not a concern, then it is better to change completely.

do take note of you EO, if constantly getting less then something is wrong...
