That's even worse than a G6K5 liao...If a full tank goes til 250Kms...fuel efficiency is hmmmm...worth having second thoughts.o_O

when the the VFR last bar blinks.. there is still a reserve tank with approximately 5 liters which gives an additonal 80~100km of mileage. so its not so bad though...

My last bar blinks at abt 300km, usually 320km... I tot by specs the reserve is abt 3.8 to 4 litres?

Hamz... How do u know it's 5litres? By specs or experience?

Need to know also cos sometimes do run low into reserve... Dun wanna get stuck on the road for nothing.

U need lock and keys to open up the panniers. So i guess it's not easy to steal. But then again... Anyone who's aimed long enuf would have brought enuf tools to steal from the box lah so I guess u still can't keep valuables in the pannier...

i do ride alot around town and i think my riding habits are to the extreme. You know, heavy traffic everywhere. So very often when the last bar starts to blink is around 250kms, not bad at all cos like HamsterZA says there is still the reserve portion.Never check how much is reserve cos my habit is that when it blinks, i immediately goes for the nearest petrol station.

Panniers are good optional items, but i will suggest that never to leave valuables in them. Not only VFR panniers but all panniers. I have a friend who rides a Goldwing and had his panniers broken into, his 2 Arai helmets, sunglasses and handycam was stolen. Someone has been tailing him for a while and knows his timing and how long he leaves his bike when at work.

So, use your panniers for containing items, but take your valuables with you. I always leave a spare cheap helmet in the panniers, but hand carry my Arai one with me when leaving my bike for a while.:goodluck:

the spec buay zun wan.. ar gah around there lah, depending on your mileage/liter. My was about another 80~100km more. Learn it the hard way, carry a bottle of petrol, ride till the end, then you will know your bike fuel consumption state!

My 1st servicing done by shop was to follow spec in the manual. 3.2l with oil change. Super full till past the "max" mark

2nd oil change, the mechanic did with 3l, its like almost till the brim.

After that, i did my own oil change as they never seem to know whats "ideal" to put it in. Less is bad, more doesn't neccessarily mean better.

My experience with oil changes is 2.8~2.9 litres including filter change. I checked the air-box for excess EO being circulated back (the evaporation part n being environmental frenly "design"). 3~3.2l with filter change proved too much. Bloody messy air-box.

After that, i did with only exactly 1/2 filled, to monitor the effects. Box is clean. EO is enough. Thats how i got my 2.8~2.9l.

I have never did any oil change w/o changing oil filter though.

yoz hamsterz,

just like to check with u is NGK IMR9B-9H or DENSO VNH27Z?

Thanks in Advance!

Thanks Hamsterz for your reply! Sure is helpful to a new viffer rider. With the height of the panniers, I presume that I will get a significant lean before my panniers hit the tarmac right?

sorry for the late reply.. Its IMR9B-9H. During that time when i was loooking for both spark plugs, only BS carry the exact the NGK model. Denso SG does not carry the VNH at all.

Your welcome. Its neither is foolproof testament or advice. Just share whatever i did experience in my ownership of the VFR... and i must say... I STILL MISS IT!

I learnt these from the seniors when i was into class 2 bikes. So I would do likewise to make riding and bike ownership a much more enjoyable activity to anyone.

As for clearance, so far I haven't went anywhere super low. (see this got so much clearance! haha)

http://pachome2.pacific.net.sg/~stanley/corner%2001%20med.jpg

But an experience i had is, try not to go so low (very hard cornerings) with lugguage in them. It really pulls you down!

My friend (hardcore one!) had my bike with panniers to take nusa bandarjaya corner. Its like just 1~2 inches from the round man!! eeks :giddy:

http://pachome2.pacific.net.sg/~stanley/corner%2004%20med%20mark.JPG

But personally i would say for an OEM pannier, its clearance is much better than most bikes like maybe ST11, ST13. FJR. But after-market panniers like H&B on the FZ1 might be much better.

Thanks! I can rest my mind when I decide to put some adrenaline up my brain to keep me from falling asleep riding from Jan 07 onwards.:cheeky:

hi!! i remember you! We came back with my fren (K6 750), and the lady also.

Yes i do miss it.. i miss the :-

1. lugguage space

2. comfort/posture

3. laser exhaust with the deep bassy note

4. the looks/styling

5. the stability

6. the looks that pedestrain give me too

I keep looking at my past pics, and the multiple touring trips last year. This year = zero

 R6 too neck/back aching for me. Getting old I guess..

Take it up north when your schedule allows. You will release its potential as an "active" touring machine.

Cheer pal.. ride safe!!
