actually quite common for Class 2 bikes to travel like horse riding on top gear but low RPM which is the same as my 900 now :cheeky:

I did. Agreed. it does not enhance the looks but it is oh so practical :) I have the H&B junior box but some use givi. H&B looks better cos it sits to the back but Givi looks more robust.

Disadvantage is that high speed touring is limited to 160km/h as it is not advisable to go fast with top box. For looks see pic in my profile

I had the same thing when I bought my VFR. read up something on vfrdiscussion.com about flipping O2 sensors and I tried that and since then it has been smooth all the way. Also adding some 'fuel booster' such as FP60 or similar once in a while helps in my opinion.

Yeah I agreed that with the top box is very practical. Best is when you have 3 boxes. You can carry a lot of wonderful stuffs. But seriously, looks with panniers is ok, but with top box, I think it really screwed VFR's sporty look... :cheeky:

I got my side mirror fixed at Boon Siew, cost me S$100.08, sianzzz.

I got a Givi Top Box V46. It is very practical although the sporty looks is really gone as it makes it looks like ah pek bike but the best thing is that I can still go through traffic without much difficulties.

I tried at 220km plus while riding with my top box without much difficulties on a regular basis.

I got the worst fuel consumption at 14km/litre.

The storage under the seat is useless, can only put small items only.

Sep 02 to Oct 02- Black Cagiva Planet (1 word Lousy)

Oct 02 to Oct 03- Yellow RXZ133 (Too light for me)

Oct 03 to Mar 05- White Purple CBR 400RR (Not enough style & power)

Mar 05 to Dec 06- Red CBR 1000RR (Wonderful except the magnetic coil issue)

Dec 06- Dec 07- Black VFR 800 (Good bike but not my style, thks for the memories)

Dec 07- Black GSX1000K8 (Nothing else to say except Damn good)

Anyone knows where or which shop can do sliders for VFR?

hoping to find another alternative rather than drilling through the coolant bottle.

heart pain leh...anyone has any ideas???

:help:

Motoworld - bracket to fix up sliders, think no need to drill thru coolant bottle as the sliders comes out thru the holes in the fairing.

Equipment Extreme - replace with smaller coolant bottle, but must drill fairing.

Unfortunately, experience so far is still some level of compromise whatever you choose.

Few years ago there was a discussion about the surging issue when in idle and also the not so smooth ride below 3.5k. Some said that Honda had accidently swapped the O2 sensors on many bikes. these O2 sensors dense the emmision in the exhaust and based on deternine fuel/air combo to be fed to engine.

Turns out that to meet certain evironmental requirments the O2 sensors lower the fuel flow to the engine and that causes the not so smooth ride at low rpm. By flipping the sensors (those two connectors black and white under the water resevoir) you effectively eliminate this whole sensing process as the ECU considers it as rubbish and does not lower the fuel intake so I guess it runs richer then.

I flipped my sensors and have been happy since. Been riding with it for 50k. I do have my FI light come on when travelling NSH at around 170km/h for a period of time. Not sure if it is related.

Have not read vfrdiscussion for more than a year as I am very pleased with my bike right now :)

Took me 3 hrs to install the panniers as I have not get the correct tools for the job. HamsterZ is rite. You need the correct sized spanner to unlock the bolts at wierd angles. So if you guys are installing it in future, pls get yourself a strong socket wrench that can switch sizes for this task. Else you may end up rounding the bolt and worsen the situation.

Thanks for the reply and info. :thumb:

By "flipped" the sensors,u mean that u just disconnect it thru the two connectors black and white, tats it?I was thinking of disconnecting it and remove the O2 sensor then plug the hole.

I see that u have aftermarket end cans so u will need to remove it.I am on stock end cans,so will it be no different for me?

Yeah, i disconnect them and connect white to black and black to white. It's quite simple. No need to touch exhaust.

Oh ya. I had my mech hamsterz do the exhaust swap so can't remember if he came accross any O2 sensors. Mabybe the sensors are plugged in before the cat.

Maybe Hamsterz got any comment.

It is true that the sensors provide an open loop feedback to the ECU based on what it picks up on the exhaust, thus the ECU adjusts its fueling to pass the emmissions. Some tried removing the sensors to form a closed loop,(plugging it out) so no sensors to provide info to the ECU. Yesh, the Fi light will appear as the ECU read "error" from the "no more sensors". A dummy can be bough to "seal" up the hole and "bluffthe ECU so no Fi light appears. (For those who don't light extra lightings

As for switch of of connectors (restopel's method). Logically, it tells the ECU rubbish insetad of nothing, which it should form back closed loop (safety feature. i think). I tried that too. No Fi light appears, and the ride did not seem mucg somether either to my butt though:sweat:

I switched them back :p

I may switch from PP to M3 next round. :cheeky:

Was thinking of using PP but aft hearing ppl falling using it me balls shrink liao.

The M3 makes the Z6 feel as if the tire is square. Initial turn in on the M3 is much faster and tracks the line pretty good. Tread is pretty deep so maybe can expect a longer lifespan. Haven been able to test its stability at high speed though...

Should cost you Around $20000 to $20500 for a VFR800 06 and 07 (no difference except colours scheme) everything included except insurance and finance cost.

Insurance for a 28yr old without NCB, Third Part Fire and Theft (commonly known as 2nd Party in the insurance industry) should be around $1-1.2k

Finance cost (interest) is around 4-6% per annum. Shops like Mah Pte Ltd which finance its own loan doesn not charge any fees with regard to loan application and adminstration (their practice in april 06.. dunno if there was any changes since then).

Other loan like Hitachi Credit charges $100 for loan processing. Be prepared to pay more for loan processing and paperwork with smaller bike shops.

The VFR is a great road and touring bike.

Just pop down to Mah or Boon siew to check out the latest pricing. The above are from my personal experience and meant for reference only.
