It's great for both touring and street riding... that's why Honda has it under the sports tourer category. There are quite a few in Singapore, but definitely not as easy to spot. Seems like out and out sports bikes are all the rage... R1s, Fireblades, GSXRs... but I simply love my VFR... its scarcity makes it even more special. :cheeky:

hehe... you have to arrange to get them all out...

I have the PP's on my current ride. Super great on SG and B-roads. Track session were superb, but the funi thing is the wear rate is so little.. little till the extend I have never seen before all my track sessions. Seems great... great grip and handling with little wear. But slowly it worries me as it did not last through many heat cycles.

Apparently I am now with almost 16k mileage and they still look super new... but not much feedback anymore and the grips feels very "vague". 250kmh on NS highway white strips slips a little...

IMHO, its a great street sport aggressive tire, but heat cycle might be an issue in my case of use..

Some recall info..

Michelin has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Transport Canada that it is recalling Michelin® Pilot® Power 2CT and Pilot® Power 120/70 ZR 17 (58W) front motorcycle tires with the "Made in France" markings in the United States and Canada. This recall involves these specific tires only and has no impact on any other Michelin tires. Related actions are under way in other countries.

Because rider safety is the primary concern, Michelin has decided as a precaution to replace the 120/70 ZR 17 (58W) Michelin Pilot Power 2CT and Michelin Pilot Power front tires, which can be identified by the following markings on the sidewall:

-- a "Made in France" label

-- DOT 6UCW 980T or DOT 6UCW 979T

The company will be replacing all potentially affected tires in a comprehensive commitment to retrieve from the market any tire that does not meet Michelin quality standards. Replacement tires are available at no cost (including mounting and balancing) to consumers through participating Michelin® motorcycle tire servicing retailers.

Please msg or call this number 96849008

Send him your Name, Bike number, which shop you brought your tires from.

I was using Pirelli Diablo Corsa (street/track tyres) since May 03 when I first got my bike and it lasted me till Nov 06. I use it for a few occasional tours and around 10 track sessions at PG. Mileage is less than 10K.

I use a Michelin Power Race (race tyres) since Nov 06 for 2 sessions at Sepang and 1 at PG, but have never use it for touring. Probably can still last for another 4000km of street and tour, but not for any track session.

My next tyre would be the Diablo Corsa 3.

I am also on PP now. At around 70 degree lean angle is very slippery when wet. I agree with you that the wear is little. Not really happy with Mich so I will be moving to Bridgestone fast.

No no I think you mistaken... maybe I should say 20 degree lean.... Never tried to lean more than 45 degree during wet... must be brain dead after prolonged OT...:cheeky:

hi viffers out there,

any VTEC did valve clearance servicing already?

any symptoms?

mileage?

How long, where?

co$t damage?

Thanks in advance.

I did it recently at Stamford in AMK. Clocked 103k so far. Previous owner did it there as well at 30K. Left my bike there for a week while i took a holiday.

I did a full service on my ohlins shock and oil change + cleaning of filter and inspection of coil. Total cost was $705.

Wanted to change my tensioner as well but alex had no stock so I will do that during my next servicing. Engine is in superb condition but it has been since I took over the bike :) smooth at low RPM and no surge when the VTEC range starts ( must add additive to fuel for some reason to achieve that).

oh, by the way, bike MIGHT be for sale later this year as I ran into some problems with the law recently

wats the price of oil change over at stamford side huh?

until now i still cant find a good place that is good in servicing VFR eh :(

Actually with a mainstand on the VFR, its pretty easy to DIY. No fairing removal involved. If you can invest in a size 17 socket and a wrench with extender, a oil filter cap and a used cut car oil bottle (4 or 5l), 45 mins would prob be all you take to get a fresh change of EO. You won't get overfill this way :p But like wise you can tell you favourite mechanic how many litres.

anything more then 3l is overkill and your airbox (and whats on your airbox?) would be splattered with EO.

But then again, sometimes sitting down and relak while it gets changed is also good!

Used to "throw" them away in bottles in the normal way like rubbish (if you get what i mean) before my VFR times. After getting a little bit wiser (and with new-water technology in SG), I dispose the bottles in bike/car workshops. Either after each EO (my panniers), or consolidated numerous EO change in 1 big gigantic container (use car). A bit "lecheh", but more environmental friendly.

Coz more than often, the "waste drums" are outside the workshops, even with a nice filter attached to aid in pouring. Tip is, make sure the drum you choose to pour is not "almost full". Check before pouring, else you gonna makes things very dirty. By the way, they get rebates from waste oil collections!

But now I settle all within my workshop.
