We usually see changes to the VFR every four years, the new version of the VFR is awaited for 2006. But so far, anyone has info of whats to be confirmed?

VFR1000 V5 or VFR1200 V5 ???

It seemed well that HONDA turns to a VFR1000 V5 vtec for a start. Then now a VFR1200

Two schools:

- VFR1000: according to the Japanese magazine " YOUNG MACHINE " (July 2004), crossing enters before PanEuropean, the CBR1000RR and the current VFR.

- VFR1200: according to American magazine " MCN " (August 2004), its a cross between XX and Vtec.

Then again mi opinion, V5 close to 200bhp resulting an intruding effect to the Super sport touring category seems odd.

But considering the VFR always comprises innovations, V5 seems the obliged the direction one would innovate. But then why make a CBR1200xx and a VFR1000 or 1200 in direct competition?

HONDA must strike a great blow because Vtec did not achieve the THE targeted sales than the preceding versions... Let us hope for that the new VFR will emrge the best sports tourer again. A VFR1000 or 1200 with V5, ABS, traction control, anti-crash electronics(for insane ppl... heheh), and 190bhp is something very tempting though.

Whoa, Mr No.2 so fierce ah? I hope he doesn't do that all the time. Remember VFR is an expensive bike (bike expensive, plugs expensive, accessories expensive, summons also expensive :deal: ). *touch wood* *cough* Treasure it. :goodluck:

Just bought the latest issue of Sport Rider with all the 2005 bike info. Nothing about VFR. Maybe '06.

I hope the VFR won't merge with the Blackbird, though. A 990cc V5 VFR will be SWEET. A VFR/Blackbird hybrid will be... weird...

Yah, thinkning of chaning in 2006 leh. But then again, feel like having more ppl guinea pig the bike first hehehe. This change is pretty drastic compared to the 2002 from 1998 model. VteC model has a base platform back in time. The 1200cc variant platform is on the GP V5s. Whether it will be proved to be a tourer of the year again will take some time. A sport tourer with too much cc defeats its purpose. Anyways, that is why the 800cc is uniq and its performance proves itself to be versatile in both comfort and "sport mode".

Well, if you are enjoying what you pay for, isn't it worth the effort? If you pay so much yet its giving you unecessary unsatisfaction. I think that worst. We'll see. Actually the only thing that bothers me is the 400c jump, which makes it not wat a sport tourer rider is looking for... and hence if I get the bike then I will kao peh the road tax and insurance!

:cheeky: Well explain professor hamster, but the way, my bike ride now feels great after upgrading to the ohlins suspension. Ride is more comfortable then ever & not so harsh over hump, potholes, uneven roads or white strips. :thumb: Think will upgrade the front shocks too. Interested?

no lah not professor lah... just chippin my reviews...

wao where did you get the ohlins? How much, how did you tune them, how long did you tune them. Where did you test the setup? NOW you're making me damn gian. But erm.. heheh not so soon. The OEM shocks are pretty comfy man... just a little soft when hitting the circuit track and the B-roads. The front preload is already at max out to get 28~30mm sag man! Probably change them when the OEM is retiring .. ehheeh

But then agin, might be getting the 2006 VFR... then i wunt wastye the $$...

In that case, please take good care of your baby. I probably won't be particularly interested in an over-sized VFR. So I might just want to buy over your bike! :cheeky:

I am still debating whether to spend my money on a bike (probably earlier version of the 600s like R6, G6 or F4i, or if I'm lucky an earlier VFR) or a car (cheapo Nissan Sentra or maybe a EG6 or beat-up DC3). Anybody got experience with snow? Is riding below freeze point feasible (not just for the human, but for the machine)?

the best comfortable bike is one which supports your head, back and leg contact points lie in a straight line(as vertical as possible). The VFR is not fully straight, together with its light controls and deep cut seat. Its one of the very comfortable bike around. You notice the FJR is fully upright.

The posture is very different from a sports bike too. Take a ride of about 100km, and you will notice the difference in neck and back comfprt.

manufacturer spec i forgot, but can be easily found form the net. As for my vehicle, singapore riding is 17~18km/liter. Reserve kicks in at 310km mark, with another 80~100km more to go. Highway cruising at 120kmh is 20km/liter. This works out to be about 440km for a full 22 liter tank.

It will be great to have another viffer. Its one of the best bike around to get (if you are not looking for sheer power that is...)

Take a short read on the article on seat postures..

Hope these helps..

as hamsterz has said riding posture quite comfortable can ride 1500km in 1 day(tried bfore liao :p) n u still stay fresh :thumb: fuel comsumption is like wat hamsterz said also sg rd 17-18km/l n best comsumption is at highway speed of 110-120km/h can stretch till 21km/l sometimes, juz note stay below 7000 rpm bfore the vtec opens n comsumption should be more or less around tat range. goin at 160km/h at 6800rpm can reach frm GP esso to ayer keroh no prob. but if try bfore top speed on tis bike u will find it drinks fuel like water!!! 1liter on 6th gear 11500rpm n above can drop to 9.5-10km/l :p
