erm... may I know if you're asking anyone selling a VFR or the O2 sensors dummies.

If its a VFR, there might be a less than 1 year old ReD VIFFER for sale. Comes with panniers, Givi screen and NWS mudguard.

:cheer:

oorr simple.... this type is the touring kind. keep for long and sayang... so DO NOT hard run in(so called moto-man run in) so that she willl feel smoother and lasting. Open her up nice and smooth.. but try no to maintain att he same rpm... give occasional acceleration to get a good "SEAL" ... catch my drift?

Ride hard & safe...

HaHa.. Funny..

:cheeky:

Hey hamsters. I did a MO for the bulbs. Should have the vision plus mid April. Going for a holiday first in Australia. Would have loved to ride up with you guys to Thailand otherwise. Perhaps next year. Have a save and wonderful journey whoever is going.

As for the O2 sensors. I mangaged to swap them myself. Do not know if they where connected wrongly but just anyhow swap. Much better at the low end now. Not so jerky and makes it feel lighter somehow at the low revs. Still got a rather violent vtec transition sometimes. No diff after swap but that not such a big deal. Overall an even greater and smoother ride.

the VFR800 workshop service manual states almost all the servicing needed (but i kinda havent follow all coz so far no probs hehehe)

these are the most basic ones that i have done it myself so far after mileage monitoring

1. engine oil (6k km)

2 spark plugs (24~26k km... but i gonna change them every 48k now. Why coz the gap is still within 0.05mm inspec when i took it out at the above mentioned mileage!)

3. coolant change (1 year)

4. engine mounting pts tightening (18k km)

5. Steering cone tightening (15k & 30k km)

As for valve clearance.. with 30k km now.. now probs. Think recommended was at 24k km.Had a viffer at 60k km.. and no ticking sound man.. Bulletproof was his exact words!

Hope these provides some gauge... BUT DISCLAIMER HOR : THIS IS FOR REFERENCE ONLY ... heheheh every rider style is different

Yes, so after swapping it is black in white socket and white in black socket. I follow instruction from the UK site. They got pics too. I did not know how to unplug first cos connector looks pretty complicated with many clips but you got to lift main clip up to release the connector.

wah, looks so easy eh. From what koma told me there is more to it.

Every 1k lube chain and tighten chain

Every 5k oil & filter

Every 30K valve clearence (takes about three days).

Actually, my next focus is the rectifier. I want to make it more reliable by better cooling. Either fan or heatsink. Does this problem happen in 6th gen VFR? I know lot of ppl with 5th gen VFR got their rectifier blown. I previously had a CB400 vtec and also had a rectifier gone once. Just do not want to stand in malaysia with a spoilt rectifier.

wah, every 6 k must change engine oil woh.. sound expensive.. so i guess i should start with using mineral oil for the 1st oil change and than switch to semi-syn before going to fully syn? thought the 1st oil change for 1st hand bike should be like 1km or wat.. just hope to run in the bike smoothly case it give me problems in the future....

erm item 1 to 4 is "hamsterz riding manual"

:cheer:

The valve clearance one is Honda service manual. :thumb:

The reason why i did not stick to the Honda manual is because there is always a factor in every spec they have. And these are meant to cater for ALL VFRs in the world, which is subjected to different weather and riding styles.

I took the recommended mileage service as a reference. Meaning I check them at the recomended mileage and I replace/service/or leave it as it is based on the condition...

1 example is engine oil change freq is 12k km onm the manual!!!! Will you stick to that? I inspected my oil at 4,5,6,7,8k km.. to judge whats my usage like, hence have a gauge on the wear n tear of the oil. This goes the same with my other servicing areas.

So like i said.. heheh disclaimer.. hahaha

Anyways i have a copy of the VFR service manual. Drop me a ring if you are interested to have 1.

Well there is more. I believe koma would have more experience coz he clocks mileage macham like drink water!!! :giddy:

There many more which i did not include.. coz then it would be very very long.

To add on

1. Chain lube every 2 days (try maxima oil lube.. its great and does not fling)

2. Chain tighten funni thing is .. this bike after riding for 18k km... and stupid wheelies.. it did not slack!!!

3. oil filter is changed whenever oil is changed.

A good example not to follow strictly to books is... see the chain tighten part? My and koma's one seems to differ so much...

So far my rectifier is OK (prob it is still new). The 5th gen did had this prob. Getting a simple CPU fan (along with the correct width) should enhance its life. UK guys have done it. But for ours, the rectifier is just behind the VFR word (5th gen is behind the left rear cowl), So not sure if anyone has done it

:cheeky:

6k km is a big safety margin for me. I am intending to stretch to 8k km by monitoring every 500km.

for runnin in oil changes.. it is up to individual.

Honda recommended is i think first 1000km then change oil. Thats no hard acceleration (soft traditional run in). I got a fren who LUT the bike once he got the bike. HARD RUN in. Both of us still does not have "eat oil" symptons. This shows both method at this time , still gives good seal.

For me I changed 1st oil at 50km to mineral. followed by 800, 1500,2500km all mineral At 3000km i switch to fully. Why.. erm its a long story.. it has its reason.

Moral of story is.. it does not matter how many oil changes you have (the more the merrier).. wat matters most is how you ride it and for how long

yah agree with hamsterz every 1 different methods as long u feel comfortable with wat u r doin with the bike its ok ;) for me i like to tighthen the chains every 1000km n lube it at intervals of 500 or 1000km cause i feel safe if i do it well tats me~~ ;) the oil y i recommended u to change every 5000km rick if cause of the compound of the oil that i recommend u to use at alex's place u can go beyond 5000km no probs maybe up to 8000km bfore u feel the need for a change. but i change every 5000km faithfully with the oil filter(a must!!!) shows how much i love my baby clearly rite ;) reason for oil filter change is when u change oil u wun knoe if the oil filter has been clogged or not so spending juz over 10-20 bucks would buy me a peace of mind i wouldnt mind payin for it. oh yah hows the bike comin?? u should try cameron goin up by the sg pulai new road 170km/h on those long sweepers with three large hepco n becker luggage no prob~~ :thumb: been there, do tat :p

By the way.. if you are not on scott oiler, you can try maxima chain lube/wax. So far, it retains lubricate for quite some time. It also does not fling off easily, neither does it dirty the chain badly!

I will be trying the ever popular maxum4 engine oils. PM me if anyone is interested to have some.
