yah agree with hamsterz every 1 different methods as long u feel comfortable with wat u r doin with the bike its ok ;) for me i like to tighthen the chains every 1000km n lube it at intervals of 500 or 1000km cause i feel safe if i do it well tats me~~ ;) the oil y i recommended u to change every 5000km rick if cause of the compound of the oil that i recommend u to use at alex's place u can go beyond 5000km no probs maybe up to 8000km bfore u feel the need for a change. but i change every 5000km faithfully with the oil filter(a must!!!) shows how much i love my baby clearly rite ;) reason for oil filter change is when u change oil u wun knoe if the oil filter has been clogged or not so spending juz over 10-20 bucks would buy me a peace of mind i wouldnt mind payin for it. oh yah hows the bike comin?? u should try cameron goin up by the sg pulai new road 170km/h on those long sweepers with three large hepco n becker luggage no prob~~ :thumb: been there, do tat :p

Hey Martin,

Things are going smooth. So far clocked slightly more than 1k. Sometimes a bit of a scare tho. Tried the new keys from TSP and they dun work. First I thought its the batt but then I remember this HISS thingy so swapped back keys and voila.. running. I got 2 new keys from TSP so that makes 5 in total. They saw can only make 4 keys rite so maybe thats why. Anyway, still got the 3 keys you gave me.

Then a couple of days ago during my regular petrol top up lunch trip to JB. At the JB customs I switch off while in Q. Then I switch on the whole bike die. No clock, nothing. Thought rectifier + battery collapse. So I open the seat. Poke a bit with the main connecter to check for loose connection. Try again and voila.. running again. Dun know why the connector loose. Oh, I also remove nail from my rear type. Wah, damn long (3 inch). Just plug the hole for $5. Then change plate to yellow color. I changed bulbs already. Got some free philips silver vision so looks nice and white and got wide strong beam. Oh, swapped the O2 sensors so now low end is better (see previous posts). Not so jerky. So far no need to tighten chain. Maybe when you collect amulet you can help me with that. Forgot already. I must also write down the service history so I know what to change and when.

No long trips so far. Really itching to go up and ride for a few days and clock a few k. Oh, ya.. You got RM370 outstanding in MY :) I bring copy of log card whenever I go MY. Should be fine cos I can proof I not owner when crime was commited :) If they still charge me I hantam you ok ?:)

This fri I am leaving fro goldcoast for a week. Then drive fro a change. Planning to make a trip to MY in May. some guy was suggesting perhintian which sounds good. Can drop by cameron also. Beforethat I want to do something to my rectifier. Just put a heatsink with cooling paste. Also want to add battery voltage meter. After that should be save to go :)

Catch up when I get back from down under. You go on the songkran trip? I aso wan but already booked my aussie trip long time back.. Have a great trip

But for ours, the rectifier is just behind the VFR word (5th gen is behind the left rear cowl), So not sure if anyone has done it

Which side? Should be right side I guess. I just took off the left panel to swap O2 sensors. I think I will stick a heat sink on the rectifier. The fan idea sounds a bit complex even for an electrical engineer like me :)

Like your signature banner. You hang always under the bike when you corner or is it just for showcos got photographer? :)

I put on a heat sink AND a fan on my rectifier on my previous 5th Gen. The heat sink is not really effective as the contact is often broken by vibration and the contact paste creeps around and creates a mess. Besides, a heat sink effective to clear the heat effectively will be too bulky to fit under the limited space. Your best bet is still to wire up a fan. It took me less than 40 mins - including removal and reinstatment of the fairings, and testing that it works.

I spliced my fan to the rear lights, i.e. only my lights are on, the fan will run.

yesh it is on the right side. But it might have limited space for a sink. The thickness have to be double checked.

hehe.. last time is for show.. but after hitting the track, i kinda stuck to it... the bike's much more stable due to better n lower re-distribution of weight. But then again i still suck on the track

nope, we exit at gurun (exit 173) and head towards route k15 -> route 67 -> route 76 -> route 4.

stayed at the resort overnite and then head route 4 -> route 76 -> NSH (kuala kangsar exit 143)

corners were fun along the road but the road but we realised that there were many damaged barricades along the side of the road. I presumed the accident rate there is high!!! :help:

thanks for the detailed info. maybe next trip we will do a full route from jeli to gerik and experience the whole of the route 4 corners. :thumb:

route 76 from gerik to kuala kangsar is nice too, wide and new roads and can handle speeds up to 200+kmh! however, got speed trap there!!! we were flashed highbeam by oncoming trucks and we slowed down, only to see a police hiding at the side of the road about 1km away with a radar camera on a tripod.

Ooh... that means you actually didn't experience the best corners, i.e. from the Pulau Banding to Jeli. How's the stay at the resort? I've never spent the nite there but it looks there is nothing much to do.

route 76 from gerik to kuala kangsar is nice too

I use this route in 1992 and 1994, but then the route is still a one-lane road and they were constructing the new road then.

This place is infamous for the incident where a group of 'insurgents' who wanted to overthrow the Mahathir goverment a few years back raided and stole weapons from an army camp in Sauk.

Nice photos you got there at the bridge during sunset. I have good memories of the times I spent there in 1994.

I will complete the route again this June.

Hey hamsters. I did a MO for the bulbs. Should have the vision plus mid April. Going for a holiday first in Australia. Would have loved to ride up with you guys to Thailand otherwise. Perhaps next year. Have a save and wonderful journey whoever is going.

As for the O2 sensors. I mangaged to swap them myself. Do not know if they where connected wrongly but just anyhow swap. Much better at the low end now. Not so jerky and makes it feel lighter somehow at the low revs. Still got a rather violent vtec transition sometimes. No diff after swap but that not such a big deal. Overall an even greater and smoother ride.
