Do you think its the affect of side mounted radiators providing less air cooling due to the twists and turns in the track?

How about the temperature for R6 (front mounted radiator)?

It might be. The main reason for side mounted on the V engine is due to space constraint on the front for a full sized radiator. inline engine is transverse space eating. V's are longitudual space eating. Thats why it probably needs 2 as 1 is not able to cool the rear 2 Vs (they dunt get direct air from riding))

The R6 on constant 100~120kmh, checked in the "best" equilibrium condition

day

80~85deg

night

75~70deg

track

85~95deg

stuck in the jam from AYE --- > ECP, can only use 1st - 3rd gear thro'out, and lots of braking. end up after pump full tank at Esso, bike cant start. called hamster, seem like no one experienced it before.

-battery still on, got light and everything.

-the only strange thing that happen on highway is that the temp hit 110deg and the ABS light keeps blinking non-stop.

called Sanfu, he said might be the starter motor or starter carbon (?) spoilt. Will update tml here again

Me jus had it last week.

Haze was at it's worst. So rode along ECP with slower speed.

Finally stop and park. Came back bike cannot start.

Display ok. Headlights ok. Horn ok. But when pressed electric start, can't crank.

Jump start the bike. Now all seem ok. multi-meter check, batt with all things off about 12.6. Rev bike increase to about 14-15.

But bike feels a bit hard on the move. Gonna change the batt...

Hi Guys,

May I know how much does it usually costs to do a valve clearance? And which bike shops will do it at an acceptable price range... How many days do we have to leave the bike at the bike shop?

About 200+ for checking of shim clearance and replacement of 1-2 shims if I can remember. About 3 days but I also did something else.

But I won't recommend the place lar.

Hi Hamz,

Thanx for the input. I guess the batt is the cause of it as much.

But I yet to run to LAB to buy the new batt.... ;p

Read your post last time also...

5. Batt cannot sustain peak current to start bike properly. Changed new batt at 43,705km at $157.....

PS ---> (rest volt=12.9V, charge volt=14.5V... so batt seems healthy from voltage pt of view. But it doesn't die suddenly.. it has tell tale signs as the diag resets at each failed start)

Hi, I'm new to this VFR800 Thread.

Getting more and more interested about the VFR800, the more I read about it.

Anyway, just like to find out... for the 6th Generation VFR800, do they come in Black? Or is it just the Maroon and Retro colour, as shown in the websites?

Also, I understand that the bike does not come with the matching side panniers... How much would that cost?

Thanx... :cheeky:

Bro, try reading this thread from the beginning if you are really interested to get to know all about VFR800. Thats what i did. As for the colors I think you can call boon siew, mah or loois and ask them. And yes they do not come with the side panniers. It cost around $1.8k if i am not wrong. Cheers!

Hey guys, I'm currently eyeing that red generation 5 VFR sold in the forum.

Are the parts readily available here? Parts definitely won't be cheap for a VFR, but if they have to air-flown here when requested for, the costs will kill. :faint:

Got to wait till next August before I can start Class 2 lessons though.

honda parts are always readily available unlike some other brands. i was quoted $24++ grand OTR for an 06 ABS vfr by boon siew but i had better offers from other bikeshops. boon siew only imports the european models thus white is not available. for more information, visit the european honda webbie. i'll be getting my 06 vfr this december anyway, hope to learn more from u guys soon ^_^

wat boon siew told me was that they need roughly about 6 mths of slight lesser to get ur side paniers..reason is because they don have lots of quanitity stock up for sale ...so when they recieve ur order than they start to fabricate...it depends on their stock use to standby

Wow, such a rich guy to buy first hand for a VFR.

IMO, you might as well bought over civicblade's one for dollar sense.

Frankly i think that the VFR800 Vtec is such a big cc bike and also has a strong engine you might be better off buying civicblade's bike.

I would seriously consider buy his bike and save some money. buy a new bike and one day later is second hand already if you want to sell it. Just my 5 cents worth of opinion to save some money.:goodluck:

thanks for the advice guys but i've planned to buy this bike 1st hand for quite some time now. i've had some bad experience with 2nd hand bikes (no offence to civicblade) and i'm paranoid about them now. anyway, the cost is still within my tight budget and i don't plan to upgrade or change it anytime soon. the next vehicle after this vfr would be on 4 wheels so i'll make this one last :) i'll be glad to buy over his rear hugger though :thumb:

a suggestion on getting panniers. BS price ain't low (my time.. somewhere in 2003), and like you mentioned takes too long. They probably want to wait for full bike shipment, so they can tag along it.

Try davidsilverspares.com or mah motors. Mah brought i in for less than a mth. I collected and happily fitted myself

Hey, I was quoted for $600 plus for valve clearance if there's a need for replacing 2 cam tensioners... Why such a huge discrepancies?

What is a valve clearance process actually?
