heavier bar ends do help. gel or touring grips help too. wear gloves. check that your mirror, erp etc. things that are mounted on your handlebar aren't loose - the more things you have, the more likely there'll be something to vibrate.

Gel grips & gloves do reduce the vibrations.:thumb: But note that changing of heavier balancers does not remove/reduce the vibrations. What it does is it shifts the resonance frequency (resonance rpm in the case of bikes) to another rpm, hence giving the "reduced" vibration effect.

Thank You.

guyz, where can i go to get customised radiator guards for a hornet? any contacts guys?

I only have a DIY suggestion, hope it helps.

Mesh can be bought at this shop (I really cannot remember the name), its abt 50meters from regina. Walk along the main road (jln besar) past the bus-stop, & you will see a shop with many many rolls of material. S$10~S$15 bucks for abt 2mx2m, enough to wrap 4~5 bikes easily.

Measure your radiator perimeter with a string (no fairing..saves a lot more time too!) & cut the same dimensions via shears (make sure it is slightly bigger so you can trim down). Once confirm a good fit, cable tie them down on 4 corners.

I did this when there is nothing available for my bike back then.

Cost : $5/pax (including petrol to buy stuff)

Time : 45 mins (excluding cowl removal & tok kok time)

Should you choose the "shop install for you option" instead of DIY (sometimes i also lazy to DIY :cheeky: ), just make sure the following 2 items are "looked at" :-

1. Before fitting the mesh, cleaning removal of dirt/stones/bugs from the OEM fins must be taken care not to damage it with weird tools. A tooth brush (bristles side of course) does the job well.

2. Mesh "hugs" your radiator surface well. Meaning if youur radiator is curved, the mesh should be curved along with it too. Reason is not to allow air b/w your mesh & radiator. I have heard many with the "my temp rises" or "my cooling is not as effective" after installation.

My 2 cents worth....

PS : thankz for letting me sit on your bike. Now I am really keen on the new hornet!!!

Thank You.

do you guys know where i can pick up the oil filter for the hornet? is there any spare part shop that you guys would recommend?

i think itz a generic honda oil filter but i have yet been able to find the exact spec from the manual. will prob have to do probing on the actual bike itself

u can try FJT along Rowell Road (2 street beside mustafa).. they deals in Honda parts.. I get mine from them.. or Auto Machinery, next to Mustafa, but they do more on Yamaha...

correct me if I'm wrong but I think all honda share the same oil filter..

Hey guys, got my red hornet last week and the macgine price is $15.3k from boon siew. Almost $19k on the road. the new hornet gives a comfortable ride at low rpm (below 5,000), above it, the vibration on the handle bar will get worse. i think its a design problem for the new hornet.

Hi guys,

I just took my 1st road trip to Malacca over the weekend. After riding on the NS highway, my hands were numb from the vibration of the handle bar. Any way to reduce it? :cheeky:

A resonant object (a mechanical one in this case), will probably have more than one resonance frequency. It will be easy to vibrate at those frequencies, and more difficult to vibrate at other frequencies. It will "pick out" its resonance frequency from a complex excitation, such as an impulse or a wideband "noise" excitation. In effect, it is filtering out all frequencies other than its resonance.

There is a parameter (Γ) that is dependent on the damping of the oscillator (balancer weight), and is known as the linewidth of the resonance. In motorbikes, heavily damped oscillators (balancer weight) tend to have broad linewidths, and respond to a wider range of driving frequencies (rpms) around the resonance frequency (rpms), hence felt at different rpm range, unto your hands. To which rpm, you'd prob have to work out through the equations.

Thank You.

Hornet riders,

Can I know what's the FC for H9? Mine hit reserve after running for 250km....is that OK? FYI, this is based on daily STREET use. Any idea how is FC at NSH, for a constant speed of 120-140km/h?

Thanks in advance

that's about what i get too, but i've got a non-stock air-filter, exhaust and PC3... the stock guys get more mileage.

well, mine is fully-stocked....yet for any mod

Saw the new Hornet at Looi. Try seating on it... seat height kinda high. Bike also seems heavier than the current Hornet 6...

And the seat design kinda funny... probably due the side plate where the word Hornet is found... seat already leg cannot "close", macham "ka kui kui" feeling :)
