Anyone has their auto choke idling warm up time like extremely longer than normal? I suspect the auto choke thermal valve is the culprit.

Just to find out if $14K for May 2006 mileage 69K, 1 owner a reasonable price to buy? Btw how much is the road tax and insurance. Me age 42 yrs old? Many thanks.

Hi Zainey, to my view its quite a good buy but you will have to see the condition of the bike. If its still in its mint condition then i think you can get it. For the road tax if im not mistaken its $187 for one yr and the insurance for myself age25 its about $1k.

Hi,

I test ride a stx and find that it has this "hollow" feeling and the power don't seems to be near me. Is this normal? Is this because it is a V twin?

How to adjust your engine balance shafts

Required tools: 5mm allen wrench, 10mm wrench, screwdriver. All are available in your ST1300 tool kit. This job is a bit easier if you also have a work light nearby to help you see what you are doing.

The first few steps must be done with the engine cool to the touch.

Remove the black fairing nose piece. To do this, remove the three nylon rivets under the nose of the fairing, then two philips screws and two rivets on the nose piece. You can pull the nose piece out without removing any other fairing pieces. The adjustors are on the front of the engine on the left side, under the clutch lever.

Using the 10mm "bent" wrench in the Honda toolkit, loosen the pinch bolts. Don't loosen too much, or they will rotate on their own when you warm up the bike. Just loosen them enough to turn the adjustors.

Locate the punch mark on your adjusters. Adjust the upper balance shaft first, and the lower shaft second.Upper: turn counterclockwise until resistance, then back off 1 notch.Lower: turn clockwise until resistance, then back 1 notch. This will get you very close.

Now start the bike and let it warm up. While the bike is running you can fine tune your adjustment.Upper: turn counterclockwise until squealing is heard, then back off till squealing stops.Lower: turn clockwise until squealing is heard, then back off till squealing stops.

Rev the bike a few times to check that neither whine nor rattling are excessive. Readjust balance shafts as necessary. Turn the bike off.

Tighten up pinch bolts. Attach fairing nose piece.

Honda ST1300 Info and Accessories

http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/ST1300.html

Some ST1300s are developing oil leaks from the top end which are difficult to track down and can keep your bike in the shop for a long time. Several of these leaks have now been traced to a loose machining plug on the block which is supposed to seal up an oil gallery drilled in the block during manufacture. This plug is not listed on the parts list, nor shown in the service manual. The oil which leaks from this plug flows down into the engine V, and masquerades as a leaking alternator or water pump. I don't have a picture at this time, unfortunately.

Some riders have complained of excessive engine whine and/or transmission noise. Some riders have complained of excessive engine vibration. It has been found by a couple of riders that their balance shafts were mis-adjusted, and adjusting them cured the noise and vibration problems.Full instructions for adjusting the balance shafts are here, or in the service manual. It's an easy job. Symptoms of mis-adjusted balance shafts: too tight = excessive engine whine. Too loose = gravelly sound seemingly in transmission, especially when accelerating from low RPMs.

Hi guys, my bike recently feel low on power when i want to throttle up on the move. it will happen when i'm cruising on a certain speed example: 80km/h. when i try to speed up, felt as though my bike dont have the power to increase speed, but after a while it will feel fine, but after a while later the problem back again. Had went to a few mech but they dont seems to be able to find out what is the issue.

Hi sadan1,

Can you share before the problem occur,

How long did you ride eg 10 minutes or 10 km?

Is it stop n go traffice on a hot afternoon?

What did you did or repair to try n solve the problem?

What is your bike milage?

Did the mechanic use the diagnostic connector under the passenger seat to get the error code?
