Damaged Windscreen

I was driving along ECP this morning towards city. Along the right most lane.

I wasnt going very fast as the traffic was bad.

 

While going up the shears bridge there is this construction along the center divider. They were drilling something and suddenly a tiny piece of stone flew out and hit my windscreen

 

The damage is 4-5 tiny holes (1-2mm each) , but its kinda deep. Im afraid if i go along expressway for long tmie, the holes might crack because they are quite close together.

 

1. Can i get the contractor to pay for the repair of my windscreen?

2. Is there any repair to fix the windscreen rather than changing the whole piece?

3. Wats the price range of a new windscreen?

 

BTW im driving a proton savvy.

wah .... get them to pay ... but how come the damage is hole one ... by right should see spider web ... coz the windscreen protected by a layer ... hmm i thot changing windscreen is super ex ... ttz why pple engraved their number plate on the windscreen at the back ....

To answer your questions :

 

1. If you want the contractor to pay, first you have to prove liability ie. show proof your windscreen is damaged by that contractor. That's going to be almost impossible.

 

2. Yes, there are services that mend holes and cracks. But why bother since can claim insurance.

 

3. You have to check with the local distributor

 

Check your insurance, your windscreen should be covered since Savvy is relatively new in the market, and should you claim for a replacement, it will not affect your NCD.

 

Refer to your insurance policy, there will be a list of authorised workshops. So call them up, send car for survey, and they order part while you can still use your car. Part arrived, send car in for works. Half a day job.

 

You should get it replaced soonest. Continue driving is dangerous as it will definitely aggravate the damage to a point whereby the entire windscreen will crackup.

my dad's car got excess for windscreen. just pay $100 and can change a new one liao.

Yup check ur insuarance policy , mOst likely its covered , but u need pay a small sum.

my damage are little holes, not cracks with spider webs.

some called them bulls eye crack.

holes still on the outside.

 

ok checked with the maufacturer. needa pay $50 buy my agent told me to wait till spiderweb comes out or wat, then do the change. Cos im still able to use it currently.

 

im thinking of mending it. Anyone have any workshop to intro?

about 4 tiny holes. how much it cost?
