Manufacturer defects? Blame on the manufacturer defects? Nah, i dont think so bro.... If there is why is there no recall of the bike being purchased/hire? Including YOURS and mine... if there is a fault in the manufacturer its their responsibility to react on it and rectify the issues that their customers are facing.

Why cant they? is it because it is JUST A BIKE? or No one brought this matter up?

Come on ar, its only less then 2 years old and this kind of problem is happening? How bad/ rough can BlackDot riding habits be? i dont think so wat.

.......

this we will have to see loh... mebbie the engineers at suzuki haven't picked it up yet... time to go research gixxer.com for it...

Relax!

But Honda only managed to confirm the coil issue after 3 years of study... Hopefully if it is, then it won't take as long :dozed:

Its a Honda

FYI, the stator aka magnetic coil was changed to a new design. Meaning from K6/7 onwards, the coil is different from K4/5 and before. I am suspecting the coil to be of less robust as before.

New Coil

Spot the difference??

Anyway to me, it makes no difference in switching off the bike either by kill switch or by key. Either way the it stops the electircity to power the engine. The difference is just one is still draining the power from the battery and one is not. So whats the big deal?

Below is the present from my damn it suzzy..

Burnt coil.

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/4227/dsc00997ab1.th.jpg

All thanks to my bike and i'm 600bucks poorer..

Mr Who : I doubt its the kill switch thingy that is causing the burnt coil.

From what i heard from the mech, he told me

something to do with the battery. He told me the battery lifespan

is due, therefore whatever current that is being charged up by the

coil/rectifier did not store into the battery. Somehow or rather the

current that is being produced actually was rejected by the battery

and went back to the coil/rectifier, causing both the coil/rectifier to

heat up and ka-boomMmm...

As for how true this theory is.. I'm not too sure either. But

i do trust the mech. Hopefully no more shitty stuff from Suzzy !!!

:giddy: :sian:

Genez : Is it a red/white R6 ? If yes, thats me.

The mech told me its good to get a voltmeter to monitor

the battery's health. Guys do take note and definately i'm getting one

for myself. Any recommendations ? Which brand better ? :thumb:

Alright thanks for the confirmations from the mech and he is right its actual caused by the long over due battery...

The voltmeter is always a good thing. Mr Kickstart and Genez uses one, and theirs' the good type/ ones. Go ask them for the price or so.

So Kai, the debate is still on, kill switch / ignition key off to park/stop the bike, which is preferred by the majority?

Any way blackdot, this is part and parcel of ridding a bike or driving a car, it has to be maintained and service just like a WOMAN.... hehehehhehe so hard feeling LASS... :)

actually i'm quite glad to hear that the coil $600. not trying to say i'm rich or wat. but is way chaper than my previous k2 600, sold becos of the burnt coil, will cost me at least $1k just to do a re-coil. reason being, in order to remove the coil, u hav to down the engine.

voltmeter is good, that's wat everyone is saying, especially bikeshops. promote sales mah. yes i'm using it but i've yet to find out how's the voltage like when the batt is gone. so i can't conclude that fixing a voltmeter is good. also, tapping ur voltmeter at different area gives u a different reading. so which is the correct place?? i also dunno.

just wondering, black dot's coil was burnt. he switch off his engine using kill switch. suspect it's the batt that is causing it. mr who, batt flat till cannot start already still ride. but he switch off his engine by the ignition.. izzit a coincidence or wat?

anyway, it's just a personal debate me and mr dunno who. the debate shall go on... haha~

Yah yeah, bad experience for me and it happened at TAKA somemore!! darn it... it just died and wat i did then was i swich off the bike by the kill switch and up gear to the second and go down the slop. on the kill switch and then let go the clutch and it roared and with blue flame somemore.... :cheeky: macam real...

No burnt smell or so and no teet teet sound at all.. Then rode off home as per normal. Change the battery the next week (really pushing my luck) and its ok.

So after reading this i have come to a deciding point that to install the voltmeter!! hehehe PMO are selling it now at 45 bucks!! how blackdot?
