Simply to say, with the high comp gasket installed, the cylinder internal will subject to higher compression which is not the recommended spec. This will also result in a hotter engine. I wouldn't say the engine will break down soon, but definately faster than a stock compression ratio. You want power, you definately have to sacrific some other thing. FYI, this MT also told a fellow biker that a new G6 should have it valve clearance done. Questionable

Wakaka... okay. dats something unheard of o_O

err :btw: .. one more thing. Wat are the pros and cons of having a higher compression vs a lower compression ?

yes i do agree with u on this point.

But over the years, yamaha has been on suzuki's hitlist for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Personally i rode my friend's k2 before, tried my 01 R1 with K1, K2 and K3 to feel and compare the difference in performance and handling and was very amazed by suzuki's engineers for their design and effort. I have even witnessed the midrange of suzuki's pull over yamaha even with the 02/03 LED taillight version, to the current 04 to 06 version.

Yes, yamaha created history in 1998 when they first launched the "ultraman R1". But suzuki remake history again when they launched the K1 till K6 and it has been the world's best performance and best selling bike till now.

Therefore with this conclusion, my guess is that suzuki will continue to target yamaha, sepecially on his 50th anniversary

Like I say, the 5 Valve design is now history. with 4 Valve design, the Suzuki Torque advantage is gone. The K6 has already squeeze everything that a 999cc street engine can produce. This time both bikes will be very close in terms of performance. :thumb:

i thought 04 models are 4 valve per cylinder, 16 valves.

04 -06 R1's still 5 Valve/Cylinder 20V engine ( 3 intake valve and 2 exhaust valve)

Maybe it might be the next big thing after PC3. It always good to have alternative.

There is already a very good thing that is better than the PC3, you can get a EMpro. The problem is no one in SG can tune that.

hi kinwei, about the TRE, u have found a matching value for k7 750?

I have used 6th gear resistor for 2 days of street riding. Not difference leh. Or maybe too little to notice. However I feel that by using 5th gear resistor helps in reducing the engine braking at 6th gear.

Yamaha safety recalls

Yamaha has issued a press release announcing safety recalls for models including the XV1600 Wild Star, R1, FZ6, FJR1300, TDM900, MT-01, XV1700 and XT660R/X.

The release is reproduced in full below, and all owners of affected machines will be contacted by Yamaha to advise them of the steps needed to rectify their machines.

"As part of Yamaha’s policy of constantly monitoring the quality and performance of its products, the factory has instigated 2 Product Safety Recalls.

The first of these Safety Recalls has identified a potential defect in the gearbox of certain XV1600 Wild Star models. In extreme cases, this defect could result in the transmission locking with possible loss of control by the rider. As our Customers’ safety is of paramount importance, riders are advised to stop using their machines until they have been modified by an Authorised Yamaha Dealer.

XV1600 owners on our database will receive a letter very soon advising them of the steps to take to have their machines rectified.

The second Safety Recall concerns the Throttle Position Sensor fitted to certain YZF-R1, FZ6N/S, FJR1300/A, TDM900/A, MT-01, XV1700PC & XT660R/X manufactured between 2002 and 2005. In a small number of cases, the idle speed may become intermittently unstable, causing the engine to stall.

In the same way as the XV1600 Safety Recall, owners of the affected machines, held on our database, will receive a letter very soon advising them of the steps to take to have their machines rectified. They can continue to use their motorcycles in the meantime.

On behalf of the Yamaha Factory and Yamaha Motor UK, we would like to apologise to all affected customers for this inconvenience and assure them of our best attention to rectify the problems at the earliest possible time."

Dearest ProjectD,

It has been tested and proven by local mechanics and witnessed by local riders themselves, the difference of doing a dyno on their bikes using K&N and BMC. There seems to be a significant difference when compared and measured by the dyno machine unless u doubt the accuracy of the dyno machine.

Yours sincerely,
