DIY or ask cka [ http://www.cka.com.sg ]

easy mods to improve RW

change front sprocket original 14 teeth to 15 teeth.

anyway, here wat i think r the best optimum configurations:

rear tyre size = front sprocket + rear sprocket.

140/60 rear = front 15 teeth + rear 42 teeth.

130/70 rear = front 15 teeth + rear 43 teeth.

140/70 rear = front 15 teeth + rear 44 teeth.

(note: it might be difficult to find 43t or 44t in sillypore).

improve throttle response

try counter-clockwise (loose) by 1/4 turn (original setting @2 1/8 turns), max to 2 3/4 turns.

for those earlier guys tat i helped set pilot-screw to 2 3/4 turns (except Mior).

please set back (tighten) a 1/4 turn, i find tat it is a bit too rich but then a bit slack on throttle response.

Check spark plug if it is foul (black soot at the electrode), tighten back 1/4 turn.

Spark plug color should be brown, dark brown, light grey or grey at the electrode and black carbon (not sooty) on the outer-ring.

better acceleration

jet-needle's eclip from 2nd to 3rd slot.

spark plug gap

tried bigger gap like 1.1mm (0.9mm original gap).

throttle response seem mild, loss top end.

smaller gap 0.7mm have better throttle response.

here's another tip for better pickup

accelerator cable should have no play when turn full throttle.

try set accelerator cable adjustment nut higher by 0.5~1mm (tighten cable).

WARNING: adjusting the acelerator cable too tight.

u might find it harder or not able to start engine due to more fuel r spray into the engine.

how to remove inner tube

use a 4mm drill bit n drill through the rivets.

rivet use is 3/16" dia. x 3/8" or 1/2" length rivet.

top piece n inner-pipe had some sealant in-between.

top piece come-off easily but inner-pipe take some time to work it loose.

after clean-up, applied sealant on the surfaces b4 riveted back.

sound like a big single engine thumper.

A simple airfilter mod with K&N universal cone airfilter model: RC-2290.

this is the best option, easy n simple to do it.

remove airbox n install/clamp airfilter to carb.

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forum/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=3044289/RC_2290.jpg

Here is another airfilter mod with K&N universal straight round airfilter model: RU-1750.

applied sealant between airfilter's top n metal cover

(use a screw driver to dig out metal cover from orig. air filter out of it's epoxy sealed with casing).

height is 4mm taller (102mm) compared to orig. filter (98mm).

trim n shave 2mm off from the bottom, height measured 100mm.

trim bottom corner edge 2X2mm 45 deg becos of wedge in the box where the airfilter sits.

Hello

Im a very new rider.

I have a friend who is willing to sell his Roadwin for a very good price.

The catch is the tyres need to be changed and some basic maintanence like cleaning carb, oil and air filters.

I have no idea how much all of these will cost.

Could someone roughly quote?

Another thing, how does the transfer of ownership go? Can i go to CKA and get a loan from them? Cos for now i only have enough to settle my insurance, road tax, the servicing plus tyres. Will CKA help give me a loan for a bike that i'm buying from another person, who initially got it from them?

I'm so confused. I really need help.

hi, this is a very old link.

try not to have two threads for rw discussion.

latest rw discussion, clik here:

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forum/index....iew=getlastpost

anyway if he is your friend, will he do up all the maintenance b4 selling it to u.

or u can find better deal than his.

no, cka doesn't have personal loan. u can ask or check with hitachi credits.

cka have loan scheme if u brought bike from them.

their 2nd hand bikes normally do up b4 put on sale.

oem swallow tyres 110/70 front n 140/60 rear cost est. S$200.

or metzeler front 110/70 tyre cost est. S$90 n rear 130/70 tyre cost est. S$110.

air-filter cost S$20 each (change every 20,000 km).

oil-filter cost S$7 each (change every 4,000 km with engine oil).

engine oil depends on the brand n type semi-syn or full-syn range S$10~20.

cleaning carb service, check with cka.

spark plug change every 10,000 km.

hi edmarlo,

another point to note:

since u r new, fresh n very eager to get a bike.

ur friend might take advantage by offering his poorly maintained bike.

if u can't afford, my advise don't buy first.

shop around u might find better deals not necessarily be rw.

if don't find any bikes u like, his rw will still be waiting for u.

it's not easy to find a owner for a korean bike (poor resale value n expensive).

lot of sillyporeans prefer cheap n good bikes like phantom, bajaj or cubs.

Hi All,

I live in Bermuda and recently my rear suspension on my roadwin died. The dearler here no longer brings in parts regularly, and im desperate to find a replacement mono shock

Does anybody know what size shock I can purchase to replace it.

I can get hold of CBR 125 shocks here easily, just dont know the dimensions and dont want to dismantle bike to measure.

also, where's the best place in north america to buy aftermarket parts?

thanks
