Personally i wanted the RS125 as my first bike when i first got my 2B license. Already collected enough cash saved from previous bursaries and salaries.

Then i took a senior's advice to go for a cheap chiong-sua bike for 6mths and take that time to learn safe riding etc and gain more experience. SP was the best choice for me cos -

1. Cheap bike

2. Best cheap 2B bike that has good aesthetics as compared to KR, TZM and kapchais like X1 etc.

True enough, i have skidded, slammed and done lotsa things with the SP which i wouldnt want to be risked my RS125.

Since then, i got an RS125 and no regrets. Enough experience + felt the superiority of the RS after riding the SP.

Ride safe..!

sp overall is not bad if well-maintain. just that the fuel consumption is relatively high...

but now coe rising and parts getting harder to find. 2 stroke technology is also going obsolete. i think in near future we won't see much of these.. haha..

Go to Yishun Dam on a Saturday or PH eve night. Look at the bikers and their "chai". Most of the SPs have one, Most of the big bikers have none. There was this quote among the big bikers "Eh. Lets go buy an SP!"

Last time when i was still in polytechnic. When i first got my license. I bought a 2nd hand NSR SP. Today 7 years later i still see them continuing the thread. But insurance premium has skyrocketed. From $400 to $1100.

And maybe those bikes my time still circulating around and bike shops just touch up. Outside looks nice but engine dont know rebore how many times.

Youngsters walk into the shop see the nice appearance of bike. But never consider maybe a ugly looking RXK can be a smoother ride.

Then become TP targets everytime on the road. Must play cat and mouse game.

Or maybe the babe attention and pick up is all worth it?

they are following the same path as what you did when you were the same age as them. :)

hmm. im 19 and i bought an sp last month.

let me share why "teens" buy sp from my humble opinions:

i feel sp looks good compared to other 2b bikes, but this is jus personal. I prefer sportsbike look to cubs so i got sp.

initially wanted to get a scram, but as im a poor kid studying in poly with low allowance, no money to buy cuz machine price too high. so end up buying an 9 year sp for 1k plus..

i believe for teens, its more of money factor.. cheap and nice (but not good) i guess. not good as in i think not as comfortable as other rides. correct me if im wrong :)

hey can i ask you, what is the price range for NSR SP now? isit drop ?

honda sp>honda phantom> honda cb400>yamaha R15 > i want a honda CBR!!!

when i ride big bike, i feel like riding a small bike, when i ride small bike, i feel like riding a big bike OMG how...

Heh, even before I've gotten my class 2B, I was already loving bikes (Tricycle, collecting bike models, Mountain biking, MotoGP).

Hence when I was 18, I took the licence on the week after my birthday. Given that my cousin had a SP at that point of time and I had been a pillion on it before as well as the excitement of Sport bikes on loads of movies and MotoGP, I've definitely wanted a sport bike.

However, upon during more research, I was disappointed at the fuel consumption and lack of care given to these bikes throughout their productivity years. So, I had a phantom TA200 instead which served me well for the 1 year plus before I've gotten enlisted.

A friend of mine, riding an SP had experienced multiple problems during his ownership such as having illegal modifications to his pipe done before he took over the bike and without his knowledge until a road block. As well as many others relating to the bike. So much so, that he given it up for a reliable scooter.

P.S Given a custom paintwork, my TA200 turned heads while I was still schooling.

I'm a Tutor! Proud to be one!

actually its all in the "fashion". Alot people ride sp/ krr, so people follow. But actually it's kinda hard to maintain such an old bike. Want nice? Want speed? Wait till class 2 my fellow earthlings~

looks count, the NSR150SP is a asthetically pleasing sportsbike. twin spar frame and a single sided swingarm, there's plenty to like about the SP. it oso looks like a baby PGM4. personally though i feel the cagiva mito is the most beautiful sportsbike in the 2B class.

Recently I pillion my female colleague, I show her to my bike... she was shocked "wah your bike so big?" *she looks scared

Perhaps some ladies are "not comfortable" in big "monster"...

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine
