Hiya,

Did it myself at a motorshop. I am sure that some shops can do it for ya.

Cheers

Cool! Was it a difficult job? One mechanic I spoke to said its linked to the ABS system and sounded complex to modify. Do you mind sharing which shop can perform this job and the cost? Thanks.

Hiya,

The concept of what I did was to remove my entire ABS system because the servo brakes are linked to it. You can't have one without the other. Basically it involves the removal of the ABS module, and then rigging up the brakes in the conventional way. I also took the opportunity (and I think it necessary) to change the hoses to braided ones to improve the brakes. Without the removal of the servos, trail braking is quite difficult, if not impossible.

Check out the ABS removal thread on the Net. e.g. this: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=479126&highlight=Removal

The shop where I did the work will not do the work, but I am sure that this is something well within the abilities of the people at Perfection, Combine or M-Tech. I am sure that PML will not want a part in this! :)

Cheers

Hi guys,I sent my RT1150 to a motorshop at kaki bukit for converting the servo assisted brake to conventional brake. Hope it will be a successful job.

Have they undertaken such a job before? you don't seem to have much faith in them..lol .I'd rather have the Servo assist removed but retaining the ABS as I feel it would benefit the majority of average riders in less than ideal situations. How much does it cost for the conversion?

I read in some forums where the opposite happened and cause the wheels to lock up resulting in crashes instead of being left with residual braking. Either way its just as bad.

Hi guys,I collected my RT today.have been riding to test the conventional brake..it feels the almost the same as servo assisted brake..only much better because u still have brake even the swicth is OFF position..

The servos is linked to the ABS module unit so you can't have ABS without servos. The handling is ok with conventional brakes, change to braided and for me the feel is better instead of the brickwall stopping of the servos.

Glad to know that the "op" was successful. Did the mech make sure that your rear brake light still works?

Cheers

the R1200R just launched. My guess will be the new K16GT/GTL.

bike has arrived at PML showroom (i think) and also at Penang BMW shop.
