1. i usually do 140-150km cruising on NSHW, before the bike starts to shake abit.

2. fuel tank on a GS1200 is 20 litres. i usually get 12 to 14km per litre. (my style). depends on how heavy your right hand is.

3. normal servicing on every 10,000km, (usually stuff like oil change and diagnostic checks). major servicing on every 40,000km whereby the shaft is checked n serviced.

4. most parts are usually readily available.

5. it's an air-cool bike, so yes, it gets warm, but your butt wouldnt sweat like with yammie bikes.

Guys, i'm facing some problem...

This might sound stupid but just to share & get some feedback from all...

Juz now when i was starting up my bike, everything was fine...

When i was about to move off, the headlight suddenly goes off...

On my OBC was showing LAMPF...

Tis is my 1st time ever having headlight suddenly goes off...

My bike is still under warranty from PML...

What might be the problem...?

Can i just ride into PML & let them solve this problem..?

Ur main headlight bulb is either "blown" or out of socket. Go to PML and ask for a free bulb. Dont be worried.. small issue.

Hi Fred,

1. just to share my experience, I normally cruise around 140km on NSHW too. I have my R1150GS for 8 years. Just change to 1200GS, my experience is 1150GS is more stable.

2. For singapore riding my 1150GS can clock 18.5KM per litre but my 1200 GS seems to drink heavier but still running in so still monitoring.

3. I always do a simple oil change on every 5 k then every 10 K service at PML.

4. If you are referring to stock parts, yes it supposed to be readily available but it's best to check with pml because they don't really keep a lot of stocks.

5. So far I have no problem with both my GS with the heat maybe I'm used to it already but my 1200GS I find the exhaust too noisy for me.

Hope this help.

No problem since your bike under warranty but this is a normally recurring wear and tear problem - especially if you are on a long ride on bumpy roads - the filament is likely to break...even if you change to an expensive branded bulb. HID conversion is best (after warranty ends)...plus its a lot brighter!

No point la give him a call. Just ride down and get the mech to replace.

bro fir_suz85, please call Kris before heading down to the workshop. I'm sure the mechanics in the workshop are most willing to help you, but if they are busy, they MAY turn you away as you did not have an appointment made with Kris. After all, Kris IS their superviser. Don't want you to have a bad experience based on wrong information given.

R1200GS loose (hand turnable) oil filter after 5000 km, causing oil loss and dirty skidplate

-Anyone got this experience ?

-Is this like some time sensitve design for BMW ?

-Or was this simply bad work workmanship ?

-Last oil change was done at Bt Timah.
