Ahh bikeadvice.in is not bad. For new riders they have a LOT of tips! They are also very up to date on the latest Indian market bike reviews. Relevant, because more powerful Pulsars are coming into the market, along with the Pulsar's competitors such as the Apache RTR 180. All very decent, hi tech toys if you like that sort of thing.

However for horsepower - there's no substitute for riding experience. Rather than chroming my cylinder walls for the price of a spare RX-Z, I'd rather fabricate some improvements with household materials to get around such as intake and exhaust restrictions then follow up with carb enrichment (diy full system? :p) :D

Will depend on what you want to achieve. Sometimes during normal self-maintenence you notice little details that merit your attention. The improvements that can be made of course depends on your bike design. Suffice to say there's more opportunity to DIY on an older machine!

you are been very evasive in your answer "it depends"

The only things I use from the kitchen on my bike is the mama lemon and scotch pad to clean all the thick oil n dirt from the wheels n stand. Oh and waterbfrom e tap.

this webpage kinda summarizes the basic performance mods which i think is sufficient for the normal rider

page

ie not going into the more hardcore and costly mods such as big bores and aftermarket camshafts and such

but yea its true that there is no replacement for displacement, but i can understand the kick of modifying a bike and improving the potential of a machine (within boundaries of safety and some say legality of course) its really each to his own.
