Anyone heard of Masei helmets? DOT certified, made in China (but most helmets are also made in China).

Sold through ebay, designs quite decent and price for some FF/FF flip-up helmets are under S$100 even after shipping.

Here's the link

If you own one, do give your opinion about it.

And if you do not, what's your first impression about it?

By your own words, foreign reviews are sounding negative, better stay away, and get a more trusted brand.

After a long trip like riding to Malacca with a helmet that has poor noise protection, your ears will be pain the next day.

Plus if the authority catch you riding with a helmet with no spc sticker, then you ken a a donation to the government.

Product looks decent. But have to view the actual product hands on then can make comment. LAB have some Mfizz flip helmet on display cannot even last. Thats what i have experience. Thus its really better to buy something more trusted. But newbie can buy la cos they dun even knw wat is a good helmet.

I'm not putting it in a negative way as those are just a few of the bad points, the rest are all good. Especially design wise and pricing...

Maybe I was wrong about the noise part...

Well here's a positive review from a foreign bike forum

Another 1 here...

Reviews are quite positive unless you are to compare them with high quality helmets like Arai/Shoei...

I forever HJC. Standard. Cheap and good quality. At least not MIC.

MIC stuffs, IMHO, always got quality issue.

I hate to bust your chops but.......

... oh what the hell, I bust your chops... LOL.

HJC has 3 helmet factories in 3 strategic locations; Korea, China and Vietnam. These factories provide strategic venues to produce high end, mid, and entry level products to satisfy the high demands of consumers worldwide.

See the 3rd paragraph. :D

You expected it to be made in USA? :p

Come on, almost everything is MIC these days.

Anyway, American products do have quality issues too.

Heh.....

Haizz... and I was hoping they are made in Korea.

I dun know, I owned HJC, KBC, Scorpion together on my hands, still prefer HJC. At least their coating is swee swee.

HJC may still have a higher quality restrictions and checks when it comes to their helmet made in china.

So it doesn't matter where the helmet is built, it all comes down to whether the company is strict with their helmet development and care about their customers.

Anyway, people wearing flip-ups, is it normal for the chin bar to not have any cushion? Because sb reviewed it and said there wasn't a chin cushion on the Masei 803 helmet

Aiyo. Come on la. Even the iPhone is made in China.

The difference is whether it's a China BRAND... or a reputable brand that has its manufacturing operations in China.

Which company doesn't want to reduce their operational/manufacturing/labor costs?

So I ask you... would buy a Nike or Reebok shoe that was Made in China.... or some China brand shoe called... Saidanhu or Double Happiness? :p :P
