Main difference is the front Fairing Cowling. Visually all other parts are the same. Smaller tank(16.8L, compared to 01 model 17.5L) , FI system, different aftermarket tall windshield.

Pickup wise, nothing to shout about. U wan faster pickup= higher fuel consumption. Max speed for mine 110, downslope 120max. High mileage is ok. mine reaching 120000km soon. Reliable, as long u do servicing and maintenance regularly. This bike can last longer than u can on a long trip. Trying riding for a few weeks see if there is any other prob with the bike.

What is a reasonable price for a vara with 1.5 years left assuming everything in good condition?

Some owners quoted 3~4k for their bikes left w/ 1.5yrs COE, fully stock, no accessories. It's all up to u and the owner. I'm not quoting anyone but it's all up to u

True... Problem is with 1.5 years left, definitely must price in renewal of Coe. Can I ask what are the common problems to expect and estimated fixes? Thanks in advanced.

fc for vara is ard 20km/l to 25km/l

mine is abt 23km/l. 2006 model

Wow! Seriously? I was getting around 27km/l on my vara125 last time! It's either you guys are getting heavier or the petrol is different nowadays. hahaha!

Vara is generally a very reliable bike, no worries about the COE as you still have 1.5 years more to go. Use this 1.5 years to do up the bike nicely and slowly start saving money for COE :thumb:

It's not how fast you ride, but how well you ride.

Can anyone advise on what kind of tires are good for wet weather conditions?

I have a set of Sirac currently but they seem to not hold very well when the road surface is wet.

Just occurred to me. How often do u guys change helmets? The material degrades overtime and from wear and tear. Makes me suddenly wonder if it is practical to buy exp helmets when there is a limited shelf life.
