Hi. I am new here. I just changed my fz16 tire to pirrelli sports dragon. But as the tire is higher than original, there is no spacing between the back tire and the top flap on top. Literally is touching it already. Is it normal and save??

it depends what size u have.

if is front 110/70 rear 140/70 is like that.

Oooo. Thanks. It's 110/70 front and 140/70 rear. So it's normal. Haha. Just feels uneasy to see it so so so near the hard flap.....

Hi FZ16 riders.. I would like to share this knowledge.

If for some reason you had to leave your bike parked for a very long time (a month in my case) please TAKE OUT the battery from your bike or DISCONNECT the battery from bike.

Came back from a month touring overseas only to realize that my parked bike had ran out of battery.

What the mechanic told me was that even if you off the ignition as per normal parking, the battery is still "working".

(Try inserting your cashcard into the IU while the engine is off)

And If you do not have to, please leave your bike key at home. I returned to Singapore without my bike key set.

Sharing is caring.

2 years after rewiring and still going strong?! It's time to heed your advice and get the rewiring sorted out to engine.

Thanks for the alternative solution nugubiker.

Same scenario, but I didn't disconnect my battery. At first it didn't crack. I can't kickstart due to an injury, so I had to push start. Voila~ did the job and rode off to charge back the battery.

Racing CDI yes. Improves pick up and removes rev limiter. Yoshimura no, but I have an aftermarket exhaust. Top speed improved, some say it doesn't matter at all, but I've tried it and it does.

Hi guys need all the advices! Recently my FZ16ST is giving me this problem. When I move off from gear 1, I can feel that the power isn't there, like its been delay for a second then later its back to normal. Also when I try to full throttle when I was riding on the expressway, it delayed the power for 1 second and then back to normal again. Please help :(

When is the last time u change clutch plate? Mostly clutch plate need to change 30k or 2 year. Maybe longer or shorter. But tts the timing for me to change.

Wired ur IU to engine is a good solution. Won take up any battery. By default IU is wired to battery, so even when u off ur bike, IU still take power(although very low)

anyone can recommend clutch and break lever? is this brand good ?BRUTALE ?

Changing to after market clutch n break lever will shorten ur clutch n brake cable life span. My clutch cable break twice in one year. Now became a regular maintenance for me.

Hi guys, I just bought a 2nd hand 3yo+ FZ16 with 28K mileage in anticipation of passing my 2b (PLEAAAAAASE god)

Anyway here is my question, what do I need to change/do based on the previous owner's info?

"Front brake pad never change before. Rear drum replaced last year, Pirelli tyres about six months old, carburetor cleaned too. I last replaced engine oil and filters about 3 months ago. Chain also a bit loose. sparkplug 6 months ago changed." Not trying to insult him but he didn't even know brake pads existed until my friend pointed out to him. I'm not sure about the airfilter too so is it a must to change?

I would just go to a mechanic and ask him to check but with my inadequate knowledge I sure kena chop one. thanks in advance. I foresee myself riding this bike till COE expires.

Front brake pad no need to change if still good (nonid to press till touching grip), EO change follow mileage abt every 5000km (i always change wen i buy over a used bike and get my mech to check the whole bike), chain a bit loose just adjust wheel backwards, air filter if clean can reuse, if k&n filter then can clean and reuse.

Want a trustworthy workshop, try mine.

K&T at ubi.

What i understand from these first 3 gen models, it is their physical differences.

You can see.. For example.. That the pillion handles are different from 2nd and 3rd gen both in colour and design.

The colour of the same pillion handles are different from 1st and 2nd gen (grey and black).

The rear mudguard that holds the number plate is different from 2nd and 3rd gen (3rd gen is longer).

Those are some physical cues how I differentiate them. Ofcourse someone else might know better to help you out..

Hi everybody. I wanna ask. My bf is riding fz16st, he just did top overhaul on 22 june 2015, he bought this bike from his frend on 24 june 2014. On 5 september, he did normal service. The day after he service, he face some problem with his bike. He having problem starting his bike. It takes his 4-5 times for the bike to start, while he warm up his bike, ard 1-2min, the bike suddenly turn off. I really need ur help. Anyone knows why this happen? Before he did service, nothing like this happen. Pls help! :( :( :(

wat kind of servicing did he do? starting 4 to 5 times b4 cranking up can b caused by weak battery. did he try kick start? warming up is normal run or with choke on? might b air filter due for replacement.

IU will drain the batt juices over prolong period so it make sense to tap the power supply anywhere less battery. power can b tap from headlight, signal, brake light etc.

I did this for all my rides.

u shd try adjusting the freeplay of the clutch cable. it shd b slightly loose n not tight. there is once i adjusted too tightly n it snapped so end up i had to change the clutch cable. brake got no issue cos its activating the brake pump and there is no brake cable. or you are referring to brake hose which is not an issue too.

Anyone with fz16 experience 'ting, ting' sound immediately after turning off the engine?

yes. its normal. expansion and contraction of metal.

you might just wanna change oil with oil filter, spark plugs and air filter. chain just ask the mech to tighten will do. brakes, if still thick enough, its good to go. change one shot and monitor from then.
