don't mind me...

I not riding cruiser, so i don't know much about the technicalities of riding cruiser.

I have a manual of my bike. And i try to avoid the mechanic as long as i have the tools to rectify my own bike's problems. So that at least i know what exactly went wrong this time.. All this is a learning step towards understanding ur bike and its needs and wants.

I believe that everyone can be their own mechanic if you have the tools, a good manual with clear instructions and pictures, and also lots of patience.

I have been to many mechanics around town.

The verdict?

For inline 4 bike like mine, no one does it better than Meng Tong from Looi's Motor and Ah Hock from Combine. They really know their stuff. Even BikeTech21, which has no affiliation with them recommends MengTong. And the best thing is they expect you to know something about ur bike, so that you know they are giving you ur money's worth of fixing and tuning.

Have not tried Rosli yet, so, no comments. But, honestly, i have my own opinions about what is done with a friend's super 4.

cheers

This is a really old thread and by backdating to the date of my post here, I've been Rosli's customer for about 1 1/2 years already.

Thorugh out this time, i've taken to 'hanging' around his shop whenever I'm free and have nothing to do. This, i'm sure many, many people especially Kruzer members know.

Let's just say that other than his expertise on repairing bikes of all kinds, he exudes a sense of honesty, friendlyness and dedication, that reassures you that your bike is in good hands and you're welcome anytime to just sit and chill. In my opinion, the only bad thing about this is that you'll find it hard to trust other bike shops/mechanics in handling your bike.

does rosli workshop provide bike polishing service (buffing(?)) and how much does it cost?

Never seen him done that before...

I don't see the "dedication" in taking 1 year plus to respray and repair a bike. If my friend didn't constantly push him, I think the bike will still be there, a very expensive holding rack for coffee and fairings... :sian:

Haha.. I do agree that sometime, time is not always on his side. But for finished result and the quality, honesty and assurance he provides, somethings are worth the wait. Many customers of his i met there, share the same sentiments.

I must agree, your friend's bike had indeed been there for a long time.

*Rephrased; Not too sure but from what I understand from by being there, I believe there were some complication$ along the way. Do clarify with your friend why there was no hurry in repairing the bike initially, but when it was good to go, it was done and still running till today, unlike some other places where bike is done fast and but lasted only a while before it had to be gotten rid of. :sian:

And oh yeah, your Vista Cruise is still with me man. Would love to keep it for my future bike but nothing can be confirmed yet so i thought it would be best i return it to you first. So when would be convenient for you? Thanks for letting me try the fitting first.

Posted

William > There is no complication. Parts were imported by the owner for him more than half a year ago. I don't see how it takes 6 months to respray a bike and re-assemble it.

Anyway, as for the Vista Cruise, you can either return it to me next time you see me (leave it in your bike), or see who wanna install it. I don't see how it doesn't fit though, unless you got a 1 inch bar. Rosli should know how to fit it, he did it on my Monster, need to do some minor mods though. :thumb:

Posted

Thought you mentioned 1 year plus? :cheeky: If i'm not wrong, the parts arrived somewhere between end july and august.

Anyway, one'll die trying to please everyone.

I guess, for the quality and assurance i that i get everytime my bike is there, there's a small price to pay.Would you take your bike for a ride of more than 3000+km when just less than 48hrs before, the engine has just been re-assembled? Well, if he says he will do it, and it will be ok, I will take his word for it. I guess that's the level of trust i have in him.

-------------------

The Vista Cruise has to be filed a little and a small hole has to be drilled into my switch console to secure it. I will keep a look out for who wants itand will let ya know. Another thing, your recent trip looks very very enjoyable.Good roads, good bike. What else can a man ask for? (maybe an occasional good woman perhaps? :cheeky: )

Posted

William > I don't really want to discuss about Rosli's service. All I can say is you wouldn't see me there anymore.

Anyway, you modified the crusie control already? Then can you pay me for it? If you wanna sell it to someone else later on its up to you.

As for my recent trip, yea, it was great. Superb view at Gerik. I'd definately do it again :D

Posted

No problem man. Same reason why you won't see me at Michael's.

Naw.. the cruise control's not modified. Still in its package. I might have a friend interested. So i will update you yah.

Neo, hows your bike? its a good bike your have, I guess next time going to Thailand, all the kakis can call you along and I think some of them are thinking of golden triangle. Interested?

been to rosli once, unless you got plenty of time to waste, otherwise dont go there... i rather go planet...

i called rosli ask him when he is free so i can go down and do my bike, he said 1pm, went down, he was doing another bike, then asked bodak to do my bike, and bodak spent few hrs just to fit my exhaust, and end up still need rosli to help him to get things done...

i stayed there from 1pm till 7pm just to swap my exhaust and change enginer oil...

his price is reasonable, but the time waste there is priceless... i cannot leave my bike there and go home because i see what bodak do, i have no confident at all...

not a good workshop if you in hurry, if you got plenty of time and nothing to do or nowhere to go, you can go rosli there to service, otherwise find some other place...

Botak is no longer there.

Now its just him. Well, see it this way.

He's boss and he's mechanic.

Most other place, 1 boss, and many other mechanic.

And from experience i had, the mechanics are just mechanics. They do not give a damn whether about your bike. Lunch time is lunch time and go home time is go home time. To them, its just a job. Anyhow, at the end of the day, they get paid, as long as they do their job.

As i said, the quality and assurance he gives is worth the wait.

And that's the only place, i trust enough to leave my bike there for 3 weeks.

Another thing i've learnt is that sometimes, Pricing is not everything. Workshops/mechanics should not be judged just by their pricing, but also by their quality of work and after-service condition/quality of your machine. No point going to a cheap and fast place only to return again within the next month to rectify another problem.

Well, to each its own i guess. But one thing's for sure, I've learnt a whole lot of things with my time spent there. I dont think any other bike shop are willing to share their tools and information on your bike with you. Other than the engine, carbs and electronics, most anything in my bike, i feel i can do myself, which is priceless, especially when you like to go touring.

sometimes being too nice does not help. i know rosli. hes got tonnes of bikes to service and put together and for your info now he is ONE-MAN-SHOW the botak not there anymore. sometimes one can plan their schedule for the day but when bikes start to come in to do quick servicings you have no choice but to abandon some scheduled work to "finish" the 1-2hr services 1st. and when being NICE he seldom turn down customers. thats when time starts to screw up and of course he is the only person for everyone to point their finger at when some things are not done according to schedule. and of course being NICE means hes got alot of friends and regulars.

Posted

i agree with you, but for me, time and workmanship are equally important to me, good workmanship but slow, i will not go there.

have you tried Planet Motor at Ubi before? make an appointment with ah chong the boss, go down, he will quickly do up your bike and his price is very reasonable too. never had any problem with planet after their repair and servicing...

they done my top overhaul in a week, quick and good.

rosli can do a good job, but takes longer time, that's a big problem, not everyone got time to wait at his place just to get some minor things done....

money can earn back, time can't, so i dont like to wait. rosli is not the place for me.
