1) change engine oil

2) adjust brake tension (for drum only)

3) change spark plug

4) check brake oil (for disc only)

5) oil/wash/adjust chain

6) check battery lifespan

that's all i can think of for now, for how long need to change/check, it depends on ur usage, different bike have different spec.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

For me,

1) Change EO every 8k km (full syn) - Used to do it at every 5k but everytime feel the drained oil like still thick, changed to 8k interval instead. In fact I find the drained oil still ok.

2) Oil filter change every 2 EO change - You can change it everytime you change oil but for my fairing bike, need to remove fairing thus very troublesome. So I stick to every 2 EO change.

3) Air filter, inspect/clean/change every 2 EO change - For me is 16k km.

4) Spark Plug change every 4 or 5 EO change, provided if it is iridium plug - For my case, around 40k km. f normal spark plug, maybe 15k to 20k km changed. But iridium will easily last 2 to 3 times the lifespan of a normal plug.

5) Bearings, Chain/sprocket, tire, brake pad by visual/feel - No point changing if it is still working.

6) Brake fluid - Change every 2 yrs or bleed when neccessary.

7) Coolant - Change/flush every 2 yrs

8) Valve clearance, cam chain/tensioner by noise/feel - Usually 80k km and above

To summaries, I usually schedule my maintainance by my EO change timing so it is easier for me to do a few stuffs at one time rather than doing it at odd interval.

For me, I believe the best is to follow the manufacturer's maintainance schedule for things like oil, filter, plugs, etc. Things that are very often neglected when you buy a used bike in S'pore:

- changing brake fluid every 2 years.

- changing coolant and flushing cooling system every 2 years.

- changing fork oil

- greasing of steering head bearing for some bikes

- lubing of control cables. makes a huge difference to the feel of the bike.

Is it advisble to change spark plug and EO every 5k mileage for 2 stroke bike ?

spark plug life is easily 10,000km and above..

2 strokers is best to clean your sparkie at every eo change..

inspect the sparkie...if bad change...the spark plug condition is also a check of the firing condition in the cylinder. an experiened mech can tell you the engine condition/ performance by looking at it..

Your bike will not die immediately if you forget to change engine oil, spark plugs, tyres, battery,...etc.

However, there is one thing everyone biker must remember to do punctually otherwise your bike is as good as scrap, that is to...........................

if your bike is ta150..and usese a reusable sponge filter..

wash in soap to remove oily grime..dry thouroughly..

then put in say 10ml..or so eo to wet sponge...wring it to get rid of excess eo. note we don want a dripping wet sponge..

chains cleaning and oiling ...one of the most hassle in getting it done properly..

i am not surprise that it is not the no.1 task..BUT IT SHOULD BE..

the reccommendated cleaning/oiling schdule is 500km...so you see ..we should be spending a lot of time on it..

...the hassles put riders off..with a tip top chains will give you a better ride/performance whichever way you look at it..alas most dont take this task seriously.

but with an oiler..this chains maintenance i suppose is solved..

i have an oiler fixed on my bike...this is the most wonderful accessory on my bike..IMHO.
