I ended up buying the HIR from Lim Batt this Saturday. I checked the bulb itself, and the rating there was 60/55W, so I figured I'd take the leap of faith to rely on that instead of the box (since the box already has 2 different sets of numbers on it). Haven't installed them yet cos I'm looking into adding a headlight switch first. I was looking for good quality weatherproof switches when I was at Sim Lim Tower that day, but didn't manage to find anything. Maybe I'm at the wrong shops, or asking the wrong questions....

Your headlight lens also play a part, clear len is brighter than perspective len.

Projector?

Elliptical?

FreeForm Reflector (FF)?

I use philips xtreme power for my motorcycle and car. It gives up to 80% more lights than stock bulbs. Had travelled to Thailand during the night and it really brighten up the road including the sides. It makes a difference. I had read reviews on HIR, Philips xtreme power and Osram Night Breaker. Osram don't last, some readers commented that it failed after 6 months of use. HIR is bright but it don't throw the light far enough ahead. Amoung the 3 types, Philips is still the best but don't last long enough compared to stock bulbs.

Compare 1st Generation of Xtreme & Nitebreaker. Nitebreaker lifespan is shorter compared to Xtreme. But price Diff have to take into consideration

2nd generation Xtreme added + 100% vs Nitebreaker Plus (50%0 more lifespan) both should be comparable in terms of lifespan. Then again Price is another consideration as Osram still around 15-20% lower.

This looks interesting. How much do these cost? Any brand or country of manufacture?

Do you also have the normal on/off 'rocker' type switches with waterproof seals or covers? Like this

hi bro's , would like to check how much is the HIR sold? a rough gauge?

The one from LimBatt is $35 each. This is for the 60/55W H4 model, not sure if prices vary much for other wattage or specifications

is the HIR blub pass inspection?

I haven't tried yet, but I believe they're street legal. I am told the same is not true for HID.

You super unlucky. Mine HIR is 8 months old now. GOod and strong. Went thru malaysia NSHW and Trunk roads. Weather of all kinds except for snow. On the contrary, one of the osram on my car headlight blew within 4 months. It blew near tasik lake kenyir. Around kuala trengagnu.

Could you please inform me on price and availability of these switches soon? Thanks!

sigh... darn unlucky i guess.

dunno if premature "burnout" is due to the auto lights-on feature in my car.

now my car is running a OSRAM NB on one side and a limbat HIR on the other... lucky the colors of both are quite close at around 4.3+k :p

The bulb is really bright, should improve visibility considerably. I haven't installed mine yet cos I'm waiting to put in the switches etc, so I don't have any first-hand experience yet. Be aware that lifespan for these 'high intensity' bulbs generally seems shorter than other normal hologens.

For contact info & location, you can check out http://www.limbat.com.sg

Hope this helps!

I haven't heard back from rabbit1587 again. For now, I bought a more expensive version from RS, but they have a $5 model too. Check this other thread on waterproof switches for details. I have ordered one more piece, to be delivered this week - can help add on your order if you like.

I burnt out 5 Osram Nightbreaker in less than 2 years. Currently using Philips Xtreme Power and gg strong. Osram's lifespan is abit shitty.
