My friend just received letter from LTA, for the illegal parking fine to pay up. He rode his brother bike which on laid up. Do you think if he pay up the fine, & everything will be alright? Cause the letter just say to pay up the the illegal parking fine.

a laid up bike still must pay for parking. if not, or parked illegally, will kena fine. and thats all there is to it plain and simple.

riding it is a completely different, more serious matter. the fine will be for at least for riding a bike without a valid road tax. and if its uninsured, then can suspend license or ban even. in which case your friend is an idiot for riding without insurance.

but the way u describe it, its a simple matter of the bike being parked illegally and getting fined by warden, thats all. it may imply that it was illegally ridden, but they'd need more than that to prosecute. and if your friend takes this to mean that it thus ok to continue riding without insurance, he's an even bigger idiot.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

What he said is true, but the current issue now is when you lay up the bike, you have to stated the storage location of your lay up bike.

So there's 2 scenario now.

Scenario A:

You stated that the bike will be lay up at carpark X39. Your bike is being summoned at carpark X39, you'll be safe cause it's just that u didn't buy the season parking ticket for the bike.

Scenario B:

You stated that the bike will be lay up at carpark X39. Your bike is summon at some other carparks, it might be a different case IF the traffic police wants to pursue the case and reason that you rode the bike to somewhere else, without an insurance or/and a road tax for the bike and you got summoned at the place.

So, i assume you're anxious now because your case is under Scenario B right? Note that i highlighted the word IF in Scenario B. If they really want to pursue the matter further, you could be in big trouble.

But there might be a solution to this, if you are summoned at another carpark which is around a HDB estates you got hope to fight for your case, by stating that you are about to sell the bike to blah blah blah, who lives in that area, and say that you TOWED the bike there and is yet to do the ownership transfer.

But if you get summoned at town area, shopping malls, there's no way you can find an excuse that you did not ride the bike!

Good luck bro, and do keep us updated and we'll see how we can help ;)

unless it's nearby, a plausible excuse is u push ur bike there for whatever reason.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Parking fine is nothing, wait for another letter from LTA stating the owner rode a laid-up bike past ERP gatry.
