Ho yeah... aah talking abt the evil twins. As far as customer service is concern they sucks big time. They size u up the moment you walked in. My observation is this

They serve u if:

1) U r an Angmoh

2) Carry a Arai or Shoei

3) Regular customer

They treat u like sh*t if:

1) U r not an ang Moh

2) Carry a cheap helmet

3) Always come but nvr buy

The only thing they got it going for them is that they are exclusive agent for Arai and Givi. There is one type of customer service provider fear the most , that is the "silent customer"ie the one that walk away quietly and complains to their friends. Imagine in this internet age, word abt bad service spread real fast. As of now this thread has been viewed 788 times. Even LAB know this principle.......

anyway, i miss wildcard.

There is no argument, I present my view, some others present their views, U present your view.

The following are my personal view

I am in customer service serving bank customers for the past 6 years plus so I think I know a little bit on customer service.

Chiap Lee is a Chinese family business so they do business in accordingly to their own style.

Like what the rest said, if U hated their style then don't buy from them. I also felt that with better customer service, they would be able to win a lot more customers. The items they are selling is really very expensive and warrants a lot of consideration.

well, as the thread name states for itself, lets us all share about our bad expriences at Chiap Lee... if everyone here decides to boycote the shop, then let it be... let this thread be a warning to other people in this forum to be careful of this shop and let them judge for themselves...

cheers,

- I am not Ang Mo

- I don't even carry a helmet when I went there

- I am not a regular customer

- I speak Malaysian accent english and mandarin

- I didn't buy anything during my first visit to the shop as I haven't decided on Arai or Shoei.

I had a good experice buying an Arai from them and that made me go back again for a pair of riding boots.

Maybe I have a lower expectation on the service standard of retail outlets. As far as buying helmet is concern, I would be very happy if they:-

- talk to me

- ask me what helmet I want

- show me the helmet I want

- allow me to touch the helmet I want

- answer my questions

I am fine if they attend to other customers at the same time, I will pay and leave when:

- I have decided to buy

- they have got the helmet I want

- the price is right for me

- no defect by visual inspection

One of the Chiap Lee’s twins showed me patiently how to remove and install the visor and let me practiced with the sample helmet until I mastered this notorious Arai visor removal/installation.

you are correct .. I complain them to Clover.it when the refused to bring in RC100 jacket for me .. Guess what , Clover.it , forward my email to Chiap Lee and Chiap Lee staff reponsed politely via email and ask me go down to place order which i did a few days later ..

But in the end , i also never placed any order even though i specially make a trip down with the intention of placing my order for RC100 jacket cos of the dammed F U CK up attitute of the twins brothers , Knn .. the following are my reasons for not buying from the

1) want place order and i make it clear to them that i not interested in Mesh jackets as i already had 2 A* mesh jackets but they keep pushing me to buy the clover mesh jackets and tried all ways and means to talk me out of buying RC100

2)ask them to let me try some jackets for Clover sizing as i did not buy any leather jackets before and is unsure of the correct sizing but they simply refused..

3)the most amazing thing u can ever hear , 6 mths for air frieght (special order) with addition charges and 9 mths for normal order.. i was like WTF , What type of plane need 6 mths to arrive from Europe

In the end , i simply walk out of the shop and went to JR and is now a happy owner of a piece of dainese jacket :cheer:

Was going there to buy an Arai helmet. Now I'm not too sure.....

Personally i do feel that the twin brothers' attitude is absolutely ridiculous. I've bought a pair of riding boots as well as a top of the line arai helmet and i'm still getting crappy service from them.

The reason y i bought the helmet and gloves was because of the good service offered to me by Vincent (Used to be at the jalan besar shop) Nowadays, i only go there to see see look look cos i know the service is bad. But comparatively, the service at the jalan besar shop is still better than the one at serangoon.

I feel that no matter if the customer is buying or not they should treat everyone with respect and shouldn't give pple attitude. Customers are still customers... if everyone gets crap service den how many more can they tahan?

I don't normally receive bad attitudes from any retail shops. Probably due to my gender & my attitude towards them.

Being in the service line before, I understand how much sh*ts one service person faced every day/week/month/year.

I have always greet them with a big smile & humbly ask my questions... or for better price... I find that with these 2 attitude, be it Chiap Lee, Chong Aik, 219, JR, LAB, Loois, Motorworld... even motorshops *this one, depend on luck* The sales person would reciprocate you with a better attitude.

Just to share my experience in Chiap Lee:

I had been to Chiap Lee for... No bad attitude. Patient in knowing my needs, recommend & suggest. And of course, I try to get a better rate from them (for 1 helmet only). Like most Asians would do, I came back 3 - 4 times just for 1 helmet...

And it is the younger twin that serves me all this while.

The only good service I got from them was when my backrest arrived, they called.

Probably a long time.

As long as the manufacturers and suppliers believe in appointing of sole agent or sole distributor, customers will have to put up with all these crap services if you want that particular brand.

Besides boycotting the shop and suffer in silence, you can take it one step further by complaining to their respective principal of their poor services.

Yeah i just did.... wrote an email to ask about having my pair of oxtar goretex boots replaced as my feet was getting wet during rain.... this is my second pair of boots. They had the 1st pair replaced. Goretex.... i din buy this pair of boots to end up getting wet feet...... All in less than 1.5 years

So when i realised that the 2nd pair had the same bladdy problem, i went back to the shop to ask them if there was anything they could do. Guess what they told me..... Cos the salesperson i had dealt with was not in the country at the moment.... and they have no idea when he will be back. They told me to go to the main branch. Same bull they said haf to wait for the salesperson to be back.

Now, I understand that the salesperson(the one whom i have always dealt with) would be able to understand my situation better and make more informed decisions but shouldn't they have a record of my past transactions and problems??

The worst thing was that they had no idea when exactly the person would be back. How do they expect me to come back when he is ard? call everyday? I'm pretty sure they will forget about calling me even if i left my number simply because they did not even offer to take down my number.

Arcfire,

They probably ask for your phone no. if your're an "Ang Moh". I wanted to buy a min. of 30 pcs of jacket costing S$450 each they are not interested. Do you think they would "entertain" you after you've bought the stuff?

As I've said, there are others better quality brands than what they have at competitive prices and good customer's service. It depends on individuals to decide and choose who they want to go to.

Maybe by now the news have reached them. They should be treating future customers better............or lose them.

Yeah.... No more Oxtar boots for me anyway...... by the time this pair is worn out i'll go for Sidis..... prices are much better nowadays and the design is sleek.... my present oxtars squeak like mice when i walk.

Only thing is you can't find many other places with approved arais.... or mabbe not even any where else.... and they fit me better than the other brands.....

Yo bro Gixxer i guess there are many ppl who have read this thread agrees and some don't.We have to respect their views.I believe its a bad experience for us.All kinds of treatment happen to those unfortunate customers. Our expectations are not high but what to do,Chiap Lee just lost a loyal and potential customer who can give them business.Nvrmind i am still surveying around for good deal and quotations.

I guess by now maybe Chiap Lee would have known abt this thread or heard from ppl of their poor and under rated services.I am not pulling ppl to boycott them.Let ppl experience it themself. They(Chiap Lee) still got time change for the better,if not then we can say Adios!!! to them..

It's quite normal to get up to 30% discount. If they give you more than that (35% to 40%), then it's a Surprised!

Must check out the market price. Sometimes they quote you higher and give you better discount.
