looking for a bike as an upgrade from my xl2 (COE due soon, may need to source for replacement). will be keeping this new bike until next COE renewal.

1) economical - reasonably so, the less maintenance cost/trouble-free the better (by this im referring to cost of consumables, FC and spare parts). can accept topping up of 2t. FC can accept around >=25 km/l. spare parts preferably easy and cheap to get.

2) power - more powerful than my current 200cc scrambler would be nice. no need crotch rocket but need to be able to quickly accelerate away from traffic and maintain speeds of 110-120km/h (actual, not 2b speedo reading). any more than that would be unnecessary cause i am a scaredy cat and law abiding.

3) safety - stability at speeds >100km/h, good set of brakes, preferably both disc brake

4) low initial cost - don't like spending too much on a transport. nothing more than 6k (full cash). can accept 2nd hand.

5) can squeeze easily e.g. no long handlebar or sticking out weird things.

6) handles reasonably

7) insurance cost - no sportbike or other high insurance bike

8) no cruiser, preferably no auto, prefer comfortable riding position

9) pillion comfort not important

10) looks wise, the bike can be butt-ugly/plain if it fits the criteria above

11) usage: light touring, commuting. i have toured round west msia on an xl200 scrambler before and no issues about the comfort part so im not choosy in this area.

can consider all classes of bike.

was looking at wave but was concerned about the stability at >100km/h part.

also considered rxz, drz and honda super 4...

any suggestions? tks

RXZ, cheap, fast and bulletproof.

like this. this is seriously one of the ones in my list.

cant justify spending very much on my transport what with my low pay and all.

but is rxz stable at >100km (e.g. like 2A bike). I am not a heavy rider.

sonic125!

Its stable above 100km/h and stock is faster than wave yet cheaper than spark.

Full length forks and Front and rear disc break.

Accesories are not widely availble tho.

Handling much sportier than rxz imo.

Straights shouldn't be a prob with stability, corners different la, tyres thin.

oh ya... i know what u mean by the corners thing...

unlike my 2a bike that sails through the corners like a heated knife through butter, the xl2 gets a fair bit nervous

like that ah...

looks like the ver s is the best bet.

but the ver s getting on in years alr la...

wld prefer problem free newer model...

but im partial towards 2b bike such as rxz and sonic for the cost/maintenance factor

sigh... economy vs performance

bro xl2 is a scrambler type right?

thats y it can get nervous in the corner.

i've seen kups corner like nobody's business.. hee

and as for my sonic, at first it can get shaky during fast corners but once i changed the bearings and the tyres its much better.

might benefit further by adding steering damper and better suspensions me thinks.

As for 2 strokers, you should know their performance, they have a great power to weight ratio, only a 600cc and above 4T could match

Economy wise, dunno abt its fuel consumption, 2T could be costly in the long run. Version S old la, hard to find good conditioned one, other versions not that cheap. Kupchais not so bad, got good pick up and FC, ideal for jams, doesn't look bad with a box.

na'ah bro thats overkill for my cub..

most probably just gonna get the full adjustable conventional forks and wide rims from the old Honda rs125

and use normal brand dampers and shock.

for kupchai which model wld u recommend? in terms of power, stability and maintenance cost.

kup is a good idea... time to cut down on transport cost and save $ for other uses and rainy days :)
