As per title. I stopped riding for 5 years now (although I have been driving) and looking to get back to riding.

Engine capacity is not an issue as I have a class 2 license. My biking experience is limited to mostly under-200cc bikes, with the exception of a XR400. I'm looking to get a smaller capacity (nothing over 600cc) bike to refresh my riding skills. Any recommendations? I'm fine with most types of bikes, however I like to get a manual bike thus like to avoid getting a scooter.

born again rider eh?

nice.

ok, for someone to refresh their riding, i would suggest starting with small capacity bikes first.

good bikes to learn would probably be 4 strokers since they are not as lumpy on low speeds as 2 strokes but not as fast though.

I would suggest looking at Honda Phantom, CBR 150 and the likes.

Since you're just refreshing your riding, should get a 2nd hand bike to learn first before getting something else to go back in full time riding.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

Get the XR400 and let's hit the trails. Nothing will improve your riding skills faster than sliding all over on gravel and slick mud.

Past: KDX200, LC4 400, LC4 620, GSXR750WR

Present: CBR900RRY, Gas Gas EC250, XR250L, XR250RV, XR400 (motard-ed), NX650 Dominator

Get the CB400. Its a good bike and gives ample power.

Just because SG has a stoopid system of 2B, 2A, 2, doesnt mean u always have to start with 2B bikes. Even the squids in the west are having 1L sportsbikes as their 1st bike.

Truth be told, I really miss the XR400

Then don't wait. I am going to sell my XR400 soon. Too many bikes and too few backsides. Hahaha

Hi Kacz...I am one too. The diff is I am born again after 10yrs! Does not matter really what capacity bike you get. Only things to remember is to take it slow....I don't think you can really forget how to ride a bike. I'm living proof budder....

I bot myself a Multistrada and loving every min (almost) when I'm on it. If your bike is also for commute purpose then a smaller more nimble bike is called for. Good luck!
