Hi, hi.

Just nioticed that my fuel guage deviates slowly by 1-2 steps every now and then, ie. when stop at traffic lights, it'll climb up steadily or might drop 1-2 steps when travelling.

Sometimes the reserve light will come on at 370km and sometimes just 345km... with the same petrol level refill and riding habit.

Any idea if the fuel guage can be cleaned or I've just kana a comon x9 headache and it can't be corrected (unless buy new guage)?

Advise?

should be your gauge sensor...it can be serviced. had mine serviced not too long too ago..no point changing to new as personally felt that this things does not last.previously had changed 2 pieces within 10 months...:(

Thanks Kenny...I'd check it out and let you know if its been sorted?

Kenny, just wanted to update you and the rest, the trip computer was stripped down, there was some water stains. It was blown dry and the problem so far has not resurfaced. Never really found the lose connection. guess it was just sensitive to water....

Hope the problem doesn't recurr....!!

Hmm... realised after much observation that most X9 riders set their fork to very soft setting, ie. fork travel more than 60% of the length. Some even have it 75% (3/4).

Have been testing and replacing fork oil for many times. Below are my findings (based on my own riding preference on EVO 250):

1. Standard setting = 195ml +/- 3ml.

-->> Fork travel = 1/4 (30%) of the fork length. Slightly hard but.... BEST for cornering at any speed.

2. 160ml = fork travel about 50%.

Softer feel and still no dip during cornering.

3. 140ml to 150ml = fork travel past halfway (60%).

-->> Soft feel with a slight dip when cornering, resulting in wider cornering line.

4. 130ml and below.... I don't recommend actually cos got lots of dips/bounce at cornering (too soft).

For info.

hi guys, wonder when u warm up ur x9 in the morning, how long u wait? i mean as u wait till the needle point to where? 2 bars up the blue portion, or?

i notice if i wait till the normal temp, almost middle of the gauge, the engine is very smooth and if at a bar up the blue portion, the engine sound not-so-ok.

Can somebody help me in this problem? My bike is a FX plate. And the problem is that my FC is really high after these years. I clock 265km for 12 liters, is this normal becos of wear and tear or is there some other problems with it?

What's your previous FC (for comparison)?

Mine's still minimum 29km/L or around 350km for 12L (2.5 yrs bike no Mod).

If your air filter, oil and sparkplug cleaned/changed regularly and still the FC is too high, then need to go shop and check liao:

Fuel guage faulty, carburetor dirty, engine valve clearance, fuel leakage, etc.

Go shops specialised in scoots.
