Changed my magnetic coil after it was burnt out.

Wing couldn't start after sending gf home last night

 

Cost me a bomb.

 

Mine is '06 model, understand another bro also have prob with his magnetic coil too..

 

hmmm.. wondering what is the cause..

mileage? EO? or just down to luck?

Perhaps coil is due for change? since manufacture date could be even earlier than '06...

is there any rubber or plastic lining that we can lay it on the fairing of the bike much like cars have the black colour rubber thing that line along thru the car?

Heard from FS that the coil can't take the heat when travelling long distance (Thailand?) or EO too thick.

I'll be getting a spare when I try further up North next year.

i considered getting a weekend car n was looking around the classifieds these few days... she got jealous and doesn't want me to keep a mistress... already reluctant to get up for work yesterday morning, she went on strike leaving me stranded at the highest point of ben-shears bridge on my way home last evening

bo pian, dialed a bike-bulance and sent it to Looi's... na bei, there's a 1st time in everything; this is my 1st roadside breakdown after riding/driving for 15 years

 

on arrival, ah lee was waiting for me before closing shop for the day but he said its most likely only a bad battery... will know the damage later today. certainly hope its not gonna be a big bomb

 

taxi fare to work this morning already cost >1 tank of platimun

I ganna 1 wooden block whipped up by a stupid merc from my left side.... hit my headlight... felt the impact heng nvr buang...

Its like 1 more KM reach office liao lor -_-...

 

Reach office check my headlight scratched... the protector flew off, screws holding the sai tao dropped.... small crack too -_- ..

today is a HENG DAY.....

sounds like either the wooden block is pretty big or you're pretty fast at time of impact

 

lucky you've got the protector in place, heard its a few hundred to replace the headlight unit... maybe i'll go motoworld n get one later

bad battery should cos the engine to stall right? only problem starting....cos after engine started up, the alternator takes over the electrical loads.....

si beh heng arh... total damage $35 (bike-bulance) and 1/2 day leave; non related damage... $35 for a head light protector from motoworld

 

mech checked for me and found nothing wrong with the alternator coz got charging when engine is running, problem was caused by a very weak battery which is now working fine after they charged it externally... service fee waived

 

maybe the batt became very low because of my 1+ week absence (no start) and the PA2 (connected in parallel) draining the juice... should have disconnected the batt

I'm using 10W40 EO now and before oil change..

 

The coil is located quite deep inside the scoot, must take out alot of stuff..

Quite a hassle to change..

talking abt the PA2, i've heard many stories that it had cos many bikes and cars alternator to blow. cos the PA2 works hard drawing power to bighter headlamps and the bike's smoothness, the alternator also got to work very hard to keep charging the bike's batt. thus i've taken the PA2 out. in case i go for any long trips and the bike breaks down.

PA2 = power abuser 2, similar with voltage stabiliser range of products

 

purpose is to stabilise the voltage going through the bike's system... no quantum science, just a pack of capacitors connected in parallel to bike's battery acting as a "second battery" through momentary charge-n-discharge. in theory, the discharge smoothens the voltage especially at the trough waves from alternator/rectifier

 

some pp say effect not so much for stock condition bikes and those already well tuned hi-end bikes, but more useful for layman bikes with high drawdown on batt, those fitted with lots of electrical gadgets (e.g. HID, neon lights, fog lights, GPS, hifi-stereo system, etc) drawing power from batt as well

 

there're conflicting opinions about whether such gadgets work... to believe or not is up to individual
