Hiya fellow riders...

I've just relocated to SG and was wondering if anyone can provide me some good advice on importing a race bike over? I got a ZX6RR that is a pure track bike...and nothing on LTA tells me about the prevailing taxes or necessary info.

Looking forward to ride at Sepang and the new SG@changi!

where are u from? or where is the bike at?

There is someone out there for me

I know there is someone out there

I know she is waiting so patiently yeah

Can you tell me her name?

(Somebody tell me her name)

This life-long search is gonna drive me insane

How does she laugh?

How does she cry?

What's the color of her eyes?

Does she even realize I'm here?

Where is she? Where is she? Where is she?

Where is this beautiful girl?Who is she? Who is she?

Who is gonna complete my world?

As far as i know... its very troublesome to bring your used bike over to Spore. Most of the time it wont get approval to go on the road. However its still possible to bring it over just for track use. No headlight, no registration n etc.

only problem is when you want to sell it...

Oh oops sorry i didn't mean to.

Ok Here is what i did...

BTW THIS APPLIES ONLY TO TRACK BIKE IMPORTS ONLY...

and rules and regulations may differ from time to time. Please do not hold me accountable :)

Called up Singapore Motorsport Association, spoke to a nice dude Peter Tan.

He requested me to provide him info on what past experience. Since i use to have a racing license in Japan, I had to provide a release letter from Motorcycle Federation of Japan that i held such a license and had no demerits.

After which he approved my ZX-6 import, i had to send in

6 Photos of the bike in all views, photo of the chasis number and engine number.

Copy of the airway bill from the Freight Forwarder

2 Passport size photo

Membership to SMSA

I've contacted LTA and all they want is the letter from SMSA and they will provide me the necessary doc and i'll probably have to pay some little money.

Once i've brought the bike in, i'll need to have LTA inspect it and label it "off-road" and pay more money again...

That is all i got so far...I'll only be back to Japan in Aug to take pix and submit all the paper work. To me its all worth it since its a pure race bike and not easily available in SG and not to mention all properly set up for me.

I'll update more once i've successfully imported the bike.

oo great.

no need to go and buy and set up another bike.

thanx for the info.

does it mean one needs a local race licence in order to import a track bike?

From what i've learnt from this whole mission, you need to prove to SMSA that you've held a race license and the bike is for personal use to participate in races sanctioned by SMSA or MSS.

That's a very good price as the diablo SC2 cost about SGD$520 in Singapore. Care to share contact and address of the shop in KL?

you get them at the SBR track days or the Malaysian race series , great price you have to give back the old ones which is fine with me as they are hard to get rid of :-}}

have a look at SBR track days on Face Book
