I'm riding a Yamaha Spark135. had a bad accident and the outcome was a hole on the MAIN engine. take note its not the side engine casings. the exact location of the hole is somewhere below the exhaust header.

I know i have to replace the engine itself. overhaul is of course a must, but what are the LTA approved procedures to change the engine case? I have access to buy them from Malaysia but those come without serial numbers. Anybody knows what should be done?

you can text me up @ 94883869- seth. It would really be a great help. thanks in advance.

That is a serious hole man...

Anyway, i just had a thought la. But i'm sure its illegal. Something to do with new engine but old serial number. Hmm...

You tried calling LTA and explain to them about your situation? I recall reading somewhere on the LTA website that engine can be changed but must be approved and all that crap.

EDIT: Found the link. Here you go man! http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/lta_information_guidelines/modifications_and_vehoffences/modification_guide/modification_allowed_lta.html#MainPar_0003

my friend once cracked part of the engine block of his XR4. got it replaced entirely with a new engine block with everything else the same. if you get the shop to do it, i dont see why it should be illegal. of course has to be same engine, same bike model. LTA i suppose are very particular about using something of bike A on bike B.

But what if the engine doesnt have the serial number? If LTA does an inspection on my bike would it be illegal?

the serial number is not stamped on the cylinder block, but the crankase/engine casing.
