In terms of comfort and value. Which of these helmet will you get?

Both are top notch helmet, qualities would be close.

I would prefer Arai because the peak is removable.

I have always been an Arai fan, but over the past few years, I'm beginning to have my doubts.

After trying both helmets, i have to honestly say that the shoei Hornet wins hands down... this is due to several KEY differences...

1) Secureness of peak - the Arai has an extremely weird design flaw... the peak does not have a nut to secure it in the middle section (top part), this causes the peak to shift and makes the helmet tilt at all sorts of angles that strains your neck at speeds of 90+kmh. I really don't understand how a $600++ helmet could have such a ridiculous flaw...

2) Quality of built - shoei has made efforts in improving its quality even though it is already an established brand... whereas arai still suffers from the old problems that it always has (all arai helmet wearers should know about the rubber lining around the helmet coming unglued :p). This will never happen to any modern shoei.

3) P R I C E --- Shoei Hornet $340 (solid colour) Enough said...

But don't take my word for it, I've also read up a lot about both helmets before i bought the hornet... and everything i've read that compares these two... the shoei wins (in practically every department)...

Anyway, whatever your choice, I hope you enjoy your riding... cheers!

Thanks Depeche77 for your brief review. I've gotten the shoei despite the poll decision over here. You are spot on on the design of the TX Motard's peak. I'm glad that I didn't pay so much for a flaw. No doubts on both brands. Just value for the money i guess.

thanks for the info man.

but i read somewhere that u can't put the visor on without the peak. Is this true? Basically I want a motard helmet with visor, without the peak, like the TourX. The Shoei Hornet sounds like a good deal.

Yup, it's true, you can't put the visor without the peak... also, even if you could, it looks dumb... haha... i've tried (to see what it would look like).

If that's what you want, even the TX is not an ideal choice. You should be looking for the one and only...

Arai OW...
