hey bros!

got a question here (on behalf of my fiancee). How to go about the safety line route?

He's currently taking cert in wsh (level A). He intends to find a job relating to safety line. Will there be opportunities for him pursuing it using his cert in wsh. Nevertheless, he'll be taking up level B onwards.

Thanks!

gd day! frankly speaking, it aint easy to hop onto the WSH bandwagon nowadays.theres fierce competition among locals and also foreigners.its low salary and foreigners and high salary and locals.in many cases, its the former. u gotta try real hard to step up and gain that necessary qualifications/certifications.even for those who already hv the experience find it tough to get the jobs after being laid off or when their contracts have expired.

Do not trouble trouble unless trouble troubles you

Hi everyone :D I've got some questions to ask. I've decided to pursue my career in becoming a WHSO. I'm currently a regular in the Singapore Civil Defence Force for 7 years now. Really need to move on. My highest qualification is a Diploma in Electronics from TP. I have applied for the WSQ Specialist Diploma in WSHO at Ngee Ann ( very competitve course and hard to get in :( ) I have some other options if i don't get it - NTUC learning hub courses or the degree in Human Factors in Safety programme by UniSIM etc. So here goes my questions :p

- The RSO requirement in MOM website states i must have at least 2 years practical experience relevant to the work performed by a WSH officer which I'm not sure if my current job backs it up.

- Am I taking the right path taking a diploma in WSH when I've already have one ?

My apologies if I'm asking redundant questions but i tried to keep up reading from the first post since 3am :p Thanx guys ~

Well, you can try quoting your work experience in safety. Remember.....its your general WSH side. If I'm not wrong, by quoting too much on fire safety does not help.

Hey Bro,

I dont think you need to try, that's the purpose of the lockout period.

Hi All Bros,

How do we actually justify that we are well versed/ experienced / able to manage OHSAS 18001 and 14001 standards if our current company do not have or need these standards? Any certifications perhaps ? I have read these standards but found that they are so generic that I do not know what is the difference between them and other sms / standards. Any experienced bro can advise ? Thanks.

1. put your working experience and credential in a one-page cv. one page and not more. make sure it is nicely laid out and presentable. provide a passport size copy photo on the top right corner of the cv. pdf copy.

2. do a google search on all major and smaller safety consultancy firms in singapore.

3. take down their company email address or fax no. and tel no.

4. forward your cv.

5. call each one to ask for an interview at the same time.

don't waste time posting on this bike forum.

most bosses not free to read the postings here.

good luck.

Halo All,

I'm contemplating to enroll for Nebosh International Diploma in safety and health via e-learning. The 2 main providers are RRC and Sheilds, the latter is cheaper, anyone have any experiences with them ? Thanks !
