If you want to stay in the 650cc area, I believe the thread has already been around the models available here. Gladius definitely the most dull, but maybe the best potential for a DIY project. The Street Tripple is a 3 cyl 675... she's got IT.. I used to own a Speed Tripple and those 3 cyl has got some awful power compared to 4 cyl.

I like the sound of 2 cyl myself, so I ride a TDM900 for the time being. I have done some upgrades to the frontend as the 90'es design that the TDM comes with is a bit insufficient for me driving in SG.

I'm planning to bring in a Yamaha MT03. Would you be interested in something like that? It's a single cyl, but with the torque similar to the Monster and the Shiver. Engine sounds like a KTM690...well they are about the same, so no wonder perhaps. But the KTM is too awkward for me to sit on, therefore it's going to be the MT03.

interesting... Do you know what is the characteristic of a single cylinder 4 stroke? as compared to v twin?

il4 engine produce best output hp at top end rpm, need rev more to get its power out in mid range rpm.

whereas v-engine have good torque at low-mid rpm where most rider needed mostly in their life time of riding.

 

since u r look for naked v-engine, best choice currently is ducati monster.

next better is suzuki gladius or sv650.

hyosung gt650 is korean-made, dun think u want this coz bike mag reviews isnt good.

Lighter, more pickup, more torque, not really amazing top end, cheaper to maintain. Pretty much why most if not all scrams/motards are single cylinders.

tot of monster.. but worried maintenance will kill me and initial cost will be higher as well... also trying to see if I can find a monster with top box and how it looks

Just read upa comparison between er6n and gladius... other than the engine, er6n seems better... but engine wise, suzuki's v-twin still better...
