hey guys, how many of you did this ECU reset? got any difference?

 

you could give it a try. dont worry. i didnt see any of the hot glowing manifold lei. dat one i tink scare ppl off lor. haha. i tink its mainly just to get the bike up to running temp, then idle for 15mins. i cheated by doing after coming back from a ride whr the engine alr hot. so i rev for a few minutes, until fan come on, then let it idle for 15mins. like i said, i notice it starts as per usual, not stuttering like it did b4 the reset.

 

Guys anyone have change your brake pad?

 

I am thinking of ebc & malossi, but anyone know the cost of it for our bike?

 

look a few pages back. i did a post on the types of pads for the bike. choose which brand u prefer. EBC is quite good, but costly. stock shud be cheaper, but i dont like it cux produce too much dust and not much bite. might try vesrah or EBC wen mine worn out.

My worry is not the manifold turn red..its holding 5000rpm on main stand..haha..never try before..what if the bike fly off? Lol

I just replaced all my brake pads, using stock currently.

The prices for stock brake pads, which include GST are posted by me recently

LOL! Wont la. wen u rev, u press abit of weight on d front la. infact the scoot weight distribution is more to d front actly. I hv revved up to 6-7k rpm on mainstand (nt advisable of cux!) but still ok la. jux dat d bike virbrate abit. Dont tink it will lean backwards easily.

Honestly I am not convince from what I see in this method of resetting ECU.

 

This seems IMHO a rudimentary method to trick the ECU to REMAP itself from the abnormal and sudden new power (aka fuel) demand ie throttling up to 8k rpm.

 

Normal Basic ECU reset for vehicles is accomplished by disconnecting and then reconnecting battery terminal. Works for my cars / bikes all the time.

Most ECU recalibration works this way

 

1. Disconnect battery terminal

2. Leave for 5-10 mins

3. Reconnect battery

4. Turn key to on ( do not crank starter to start yet)

5. Leave for 90secs to 5 mins

6. Start vehicle and idle for 10 mins. DO NOT THROTTLE TO REV.

7. Turn off engine, and you're good.

 

 

Some mechanics know their stuffs, some mechanics know nuts. I have seen mechs telling customers to paste decals on their vehicles and it'll make the car go faster because of better aerodynamics. ????!!!???

I am good anywhere on Saturday afternoon. What's the better EO other than AGIP u guys using now? Since AGIP is a rare find these days. Also who is up to share redline gear oil? 20 bucks a bottle good for 3 fills.

hi ther, i would like to buy the 400i. just want to know more about this bike before i commit. Like what is fuel consumption per full tank, engine oil capacity and oil filter? What about the transmission oil, what is the frequency rate to change it and how much does the maintenance cost like brake pad and tyres? and also the wear and tear, pls enlighten me guys as in intend to get this bike asap. what is the current best price for a brand new , any shops to recommend???

i agree wif u. if u notice, they dont really specify a time to hold high RPMs, dats y i believe the main thing is just to get it up to running temp (fan turn on), then idle for 15 mins. on top of that, i tink the first step whr the twisting of throttle is done b4 switching on the engine is to reset the TPS. ur method of just d/c the battery would erase the long-term fuel-trim, which shud work, but the idling i tink shud be done wen the engine is at running temperature.

i using Redline now. $20 a bottle. almost as smooth as 300V. there is also the Mobil 1 Racing 4T at $18. used the 20W50 for my phantom. was quite good. not sure abt the 10W40. i oso have 1 unopened bottle of Redline gear oil. wont be chging for at least another 7K km, so i can let u guys use mine first if u want.

 

i cant make it on Sat afternoon eh. :( hw abt one of the weekday nites?

Bro, if u browse thru the previous posts, a lot of information u will find on the bike. In summary, if u wanna get a cheap and good scooter in the 2a category, buy maxsym, if u got more $$ go for silverwing, if u got more $$ and don't like Honda, buy the rest like burgman, majesty. =D

Mah motor should quote you a good price for the SYM. In any case you may want to look at the full specs catalogue online.. that should provide you full info!
