2nd hand S4 or New Gilera ST200

Intending to ride for at least 3 years.

Priorities and considerations as follow

1. Maintenance cost

2. Ease of maintenance

3. Reliability

4. Speed

5. Looks

 

Please advise. Currently only possessed a 2b license. Your advice will be of great help!

agreed, but if getting a new ST wear and tear should not be a problem. Unless u wanna mod yr bike..

if i only hav a 2b bike, den i would go for da runner. I feel dat it's one of the better 2b bikes. If i hav s4, i wd def prefer it over runner. Reason becoz runner maintenance is quite ex, sometimes more ex den a s4. and s4 anytime can win runner in terms of power.

But rmbr S4 need 4 plugs and ALOT of EO compared to 2b bike.

i think changing spark plugs dont really matter much cos they are not that expensive to begin with and you change them every 10K km? so yeah

 

EO wise ok lah S4 3 bottles hahaha. but i do know for a 2B bike, the ST200 has about the same if not worst fuel consumption as compared to a S4 and parts can be more expensive for maintenance/repair. especially that belt when its time to change them

Gilera always spoil one... cos every mother's son keep whacking the damn bike.... super 4 on the other hand is ALWAYS whacked by every mother's son but its a honda and very seldom will it spoil!

I did some research at Alexandra bike shops.

Apparently, runner's insurance price is about the same as S4.

Wiring around coolent can only last around 3 years due to overheating. tested and proven.

Looks like S4 is the one.

runner insurance so ex? oh my.. anyway since you have 2a license y not get s4. if you buy runner maybe 1yr later you want more power or go touring then you wont be satisfied with your runner already. not putting runner down, but i believe s4 better for touring.

well, reason why im taking gilera into consideration is because maintenance cost is one major factor for me

Waa runner so ex ah maintenance. Well S4 parts might be ex compared to some 2b bikes. But the parts last ALOT longer. If change oil filter S4 uses 3.2Litres of EO. Spark plug can change very long. I used mine till about 30k mileage no problems changed not because spoiled but felt like doing so.

 

S4 just take care of the cooling system and the EO. The bike will prolly last longer then our lifetimes As for gilera I can't say because I never owned one before. Cheers mate.

i own one runner 05 version and s4.. maintance gilera full servicing 18k km ard 200 i think.. other than tt stock filter can wash one to two times.. eo one bottle change 6kkm... prob wif runner is heat prob... mayb italian bike.. jam for ten mins, ur fan wil on liao.. so if u ride runner u cannt be a safety rider to ride behind a car.. confirm overheat.. fc worse 24km/l best i gt 30km/l.. tyre i think 150 can get both

 

s4 eo 3 bottle to 4... sp 4 ... chain cost 220 for xring.. tyre ard 250 to 300 gd one 400 also gt... rode 2 version of s4, no heating prob.. temp light nv light b4... fc ard 20km/l..

 

onli gd bout runner is no need to lub chain... my runner was new i rode last time 1 mth, clutch gt prob liao...went service center telling them the prob, went twice nv rectify.. told me solved.. inthe end full servicing, clutch rusted like hell.. piss...

 

gilera gt fuel pipe prob.. use like one yr stock pipe , if lucky a few more yrs b4 it burst..

so in your preference which is light in ur pocket in terms of maintainance.? s4 or runner?

For your case I think runner might be cheaper cause you plan on buying 1st hand. Second hand bike sure need some cash to fix it up. If you wanna buy and ride worry free. Runner first hand. If don't mind spending more for more power and bigger bike then S4.

from wat i know there is onli 2 oil to change.. one is eo one is hub oil stated in the manual.. this change in full servicing which i stated above.. 18kkm... note that the new model gt prob wif water entering the tank thru fuel cap... thats wat i read last time ... runner is really good in short trips. pickup v fast... but after 60km everything slows down liao

maybe rectifier spoil therefore battery not enough voltage to start engine
