Honda is losing the plot.... pity...

If Yamaha can come up with the XTZ 1200, Triumph with the Tiger 800, BMW with the F800GS, KTM with the excellent Adventure 990, Honda can jolly well come up with something much better than this confused machine. V4 engine in an "adventure" bike chassis completely covered in plastic? Even the new Suzuki Vstrom looks much more sleek.

C'mon...

Past: KDX200, LC4 400, LC4 620, GSXR750WR

Present: CBR900RRY, Gas Gas EC250, XR250L, XR250RV, XR400 (motard-ed), NX650 Dominator

All the dual sports models after Africa Twin were failures, so maybe Honda should revive the Africa Twin. Just upgrade the suspensions, EFI the engines, tubeless spoke rims, a slicker bodykit, that should be a killer product.

Honda should learn from Suzuki and Kawasaki, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Just look at their DR650, and KLR650, year after year, with just a fresh set of decals, these models are flying off the shelves.

If I am not wrong, this Crossover uses the VFR800 engine. Rumours on the internet speculate there's going to be a crossover 1200 version, which uses the VFR1200 engine.

The twins (V2 or boxer or parallel) tend to vibrate quite a fair bit at higher speed (130 or more) as they only have two cylinders to take turns to churn out the power. The advantage of the V4 engine over any twin is that the engine is much smoother and the bike can cruise at higher speed with lesser vibration. This may be rather useful as realistically, these 600 to 1,200 cc enduro/trailer bikes are most often used for long-distance road riding and touring, rather than cross-country riding.

Just went there to see it. What a nice bike. It is definitely worthy alternative of Hornet and Fazer. Or for those people who buy Wee-Strom or Versys for road trips. But honestly, it does not look dual sport and should not be treated as one

too bulky for a dual sport..

it comes with F&R 17" rims..

it was supposed to be a contender for Super Tenere..

the price was good, but all other parts are not, suspension, rims, cc, looks, final drive..

Contender of STenere is Crosstourer, which is not out yet.

Crossrunner is small, much smaller than STenere and really just slightly bigger than my Hornet 900. The footpegs are located similar to Hornet as well, and even though the back is straight and relaxed I do not feel that stand-up posture will be comfortable. That is, again, it is not dual sport and it does not pretend to be dual sport.

But why I like it is because I'm eyeing for quite a while bikes like Versys and Wee-Strom, but I really do like the engine on Hornet900. Big VStrom is too big for my liking and does not have ABS. Crossrunner is a nice cross of Wee-Strom with Hornet

Maybe the Honda designers are CrossDresser

somehow i feel that it looks like a FZ16 on a fur jacket around its neck...

speed and be home 5 mins early or 7 days late.

well, a good adv tourer should take sample from BMW GSA..

simple yet sophisticated..

crosstourer need to lose the plastics and fairings if they intend to contest within the adv riders..

KTM, Yamaha are doing good on their ADV990 and XT1200Z..

adv must be rugged for preparations for fall.. i'm afraid this looks too fragile for a static drop..

i think the whole idea of the crossrunner is having a street bike with some added adventure inputs. its suppose to be fun and comfortable so i think it will serve those purposes pretty well. you cant really compared this bike with a real adventure tourer, cos at the end of the day, honda is just trying to experiment with having something of a hybrid concept :)
