hi everyone,

I m new to here.

Hope to seek advices from you all.

I m currently riding on CBR 919. Realized that there r some clamping noise from my engine for months, heard from mechanic that it might be problem of timing chain. I m a bit doubtful and unsure of any reliable motorshop for me to do my engine servicing as i not sure of the standard market price for this, furthermore might be chopped for unworthy services.

hope to seek some enlightenments from anyone conveniently.

Any comments is appreciated. (",)

If its the timimg chain prob, you will hear a cinstant cling cling sound on the right side of the bike. It is quite load and hard 2 miss. Price wise to do it up, the labour fee is arnd $150, the chain itself and the tensioner maybe another $100 odd. Was quoted $300 to do it on my previous ZX4, but then it includes Kawa originals which are more expensive den the Hondas'.

U can go down to Planet Motorcycle at Ubi, or my preferred shop Combine Motors at Sinming Autocare Level 2 for a 2nd opinion and quote.

it may cost more than that, last time i changed my timing chain (3 months back), i bought not only the timing chain, but also including the chain guide (2 pcs of plastic holding the timing chain), tensioner, gaskets. bought it from eversuccess for $280 or somewhere there, then i took back to my mechanic to change, labour $50.

Yesterday was history, tomorrow is mystery, today is a blessing. I love today.

yupz anyway agree that this is a common thing on older model CBRs. the timing chain starts to wear off at about 60000 miles or at about 100,000 kms. i got mine changed at about 108,000kms.

Thank Kaoiwas and Grasscutter for your advice.

So Grasscutter, where can i find the eversuccess shop? (",)

Can i say that the accessories we brought will be more reliable than the motorshop provided? (",)

So u recommend any worthy motorshop?

So it is not advisable to go any motorshop to do the repair?

Thank so much for all your experienced advices.

If convenient, maybe can give me more specific advices like

1) Should i buy my own accessories 1st then go to motorshop for repair?

or

2) Could i just approach the recommended reliable motorshop and leave everything to them?

(",)

Hope to c u all ard.

eversuccess is located in Desker Road, the parts u buy there of course is reliable cos they sell honda original parts, but its more about knowing what u have changed rather than the workshop telling u what they have changed. best is to get a very trusted mechanic, then u buy the parts for him, he charge u labour.

Hi all fireblader. Recently got some problem wif my CBR954.

1) Recently...my bike can heat up to 107 degree C when stuck in a jam. Ok, my fan did operate as per normal. Last time...the Max it goes is 102 degree C. Is it becoz my coolent is running low? Or other reason?

2) Last time my bike can go til 252km b4 hitting fuel reserve. But now...drop to 235km. Why? I never mod anything. Is it my K&N filter dirty? Or other reasons? I've not wash my air filter for 1yr 3mth liao. So can it be the cause?

3) I planning to wash the air filter (K&N)....how how it take to dry the entire filter? Should I leave it to dry naturally, use hair dryer to blow or other better method which won't damage the filter?

For the above enquires....pls enlighten me. TKS!

im not too sure but i try.

1. coolent harden up already. need to flush and change coolent cap. the rubber seal in the coolent cap has lost all its properties. hence nto able to seal properly resulting in increased in bike's temp. remmeber the first time i said all these? i flushed n changed coolent cap. now 102 degrees max. original honda coolent cap is $28

2. when was ur last servicing? air filter and spark plugs are most likely the reason.

3. washing of KNN filter requires drying naturally as the 2nd last step. put it under the sun. the KNN cleaner manual stated, "do not attempt to use other method to dry it, dry naturally for at least 6 hours"

hope all these help.

No more regrets.
