I will go cheer you on :thumb: Hope to see you at PG soon too. I know with Raya and Puasa it's probably difficult for you to make it out there. Let me know when you go to PG.

Hello all, I live in the middle east and I ride a CBR1000RR7 and a CBR954RR. I will be in singapore between 12th and 16th of October. I am looking to buy an Arai helmet and a Knox back protector. I will be staying on Beach road and I would appreciate it if someone could mail me some details on motorcycle stores where I can get Arai and Knox.

Cheers and Ride safe

hi guys, thinking of buying a cbr1000 but heard tat even d 05 model also got coil probs....is tat true?

hope some1 can help me.

Well, theres nothing wrong with the bike, for any of the models from 04 onwards. Its just only the coil which was not able to cope with the heat, for the early versions, like RR4 and RR5. The earlier batch of coils got burnt easily, but once u replaced them, its back to normal, no other problems.

The coil issue have been rectified due to the Honda coil replacement recall, and the coil was replaced with a newer coil to meet the heat displacement accumulated and heating issues encountered on the bike.

if ur buying a cbr1000, RR4 or RR5, do make sure that it was part of the honda coil recall program, in wic the coil has already been replaced with the newer coil, that comes wif the 7 year warranty. Coil issue SOLVED!

but if ur planning to get the RR6, RR7 or even the RR8, there have not been cases of coil issue on this models.

anyway, one of my current ride is a RR5, been riding riding it the last 3 years, and still lurving it......

But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. I was concerned when i bought my 05 registered late 04 model, but till today coil still ok, bike runs fine, starts fine even had coil checked by Mah Motor 2 months ago when they sent out letters to their CBR1000RR customers for coil inspection and they did not find any problems. Spoke to a few other RR owners and they told me no problems as well. But it is true many have reported the stater coil issue and there was a recall by Honda. So as far as i understand if the bike you are buying is from Boon Siew or Mah originally, you would have no issues, they would replace it for you. Once you find out which shop it was originally from , just call the shop to confirm.

Other than that , the bike rides really well and very forgiving. It's aggresive enough for the track and very good for "real world" use. I'm very happy with it.

welcome to the RR club. ive brought mine to looi and sanfu at kaki bukit, just because i live in the east, they are good, but im sure there are others just as good or better. as for PC if you want to safe money just get a second hand if you can find one, installing and mapping is very easy, go to the Power Commander website can download free maps, go to overseas CBR1000RR forums and peole will willingly share maps with you for all kinds of setup. or just drop a email to power commander if you absolutely cannot find a map for your setup. takes only seconds to drop the map into your PC with a laptop.(that is after you have installed the PC). Installing the hardware itself is just plug n play.
