Need help on lawyer situation.

hi all. my dad had gone into an accident with a taxi on tuesday 01112011. he suffered a broken left collar bone, the bike is still ok not very damaged. we already made a police report, went to idac, retrieved the bike from police vehicle pound. then the tow truck uncle gave me a number ask me to call them, they can help me engage a lawyer. the number i called was a guy who drove down to fetch me and my dad to Glen motor services pte ltd. they do help on accident claims. and they said the lawyer will call us down for interview. but not yet called. i need advised from you guys out there. the problem is we scare what if we lose this case, how much do we roughly need to pay.

 

how the accident happened:

 

FYI, is the taxi that bang my dad. they were both turning right on a 3 lane right turn @ along woodland central road. my dad was on the 2nd lane while the taxi was on the 3rd lane, while going to turn right, the taxi just cut into my dad lane(lane 2) and brush his passenger door against my dad's clutch area there and cause my dad to fall. after which the taxi just drove infront and park at the roadside BUT did not even get out his car to check on my dad. police and ambulance were called, there were 2 kind ppl who stand up and want to be my dad's witnesses but in the end never. cos my dad was in shock and in serious pain, the ambulance came and took him to KTPH, so nv get the chance to talk to the witnesses. the taxi driver nv get out until the ambulance ppl go knock on his window and ask him come out for his ic name all that.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Your first priority, is to check with your dad's insurance to cover the medical, hospitalisation first. All these claims does not require a lawyer. Your insurance lawyers have to look at things first. Proceed from there. Additional claims can then later be processed by lawyers engaged for further issues later.

Your first priority, is to check with your dad's insurance to cover the medical, hospitalisation first. All these claims does not require a lawyer. Your insurance lawyers have to look at things first. Proceed from there. Additional claims can then later be processed by lawyers engaged for further issues later.

i have reported to idac. my dad insurance is with ntuc, so how do we check with them? i've asked the idac ppl do i need to call ntuc that i already report to idac but the person there say no need.? sry i need more in-dept details cos 1st time.

(in ur case, NTUC accept all workshop)

 

step 2 - go to IDAC report for accident. follow by a police report if there is injuries which MC more then 3 days

 

step 3 - wait, stay back n relax...

 

step 4 (optional) - push the work shop, pay them a visit, keep calling them, pester them n rush them for your bike... haha

 

 

 

 

 

above is all u have to do for a RTA... u dont have to inform your insurance agent at all, the work shop of the other party will do...

 

lawyer thingy, wait for them to contact u... u are most likely to be contact by lawyer from your side (either work shop or insurance company's lawyer)... any other, dont tell much n ask them to check with ur work shop straight...

Step 4: i did call them to ask what to do next, they ask me to wait for the lawyer to call us. anyway the bike isnt really badly damaged, is my dad's injuries.

Since both was turning, you can only win the case (to claim the other party for loses) by show strong evident that the other side is cutting into your path or lane.

Can you get that? check with police..witness is crucial ..if not, mostly will be on your own insurance coverage and lawyer fee too..

in some cases where the right and wrong is not clearly identify or proven... the claim amount may be divided into 50/50...

meaning that both party only able to claim up to 50% of submitted amount... in that case, u may be liable to bear the other 50% of ur own repair...

 

but still... most wouldnt ask u to pay... cause they had already made some big bucks out of ur claim... lol..

both my dad and the taxi haven turn yet, was going to turn when the taxi suddenly cuts into his turn while going to turn. well hope for the best then.
