7-8k enough for downpayment for either. Insurance I'm not sure

Revo is expensive for a 2A and I hear it has problems with EFI, hear only la. Better if for long distance use. Engine meant to last.

DRZ slightly cheaper, maintenance less 1 piston ma. For just singapore use can, for Msian highways, be prepared la that's all.

EFI has no problem, it's up to the owner how the bike is been taken care of.

Read the DRZ and S4 revo link for more info to compare between them.

i've rode s4 for about 3 years liao... it's a good bike. Now riding drz... imo drz is a more fun ride, esp in SG. The powerband is in the low range, so you can use the powerful torque immediately from the go, as opposed to s4 which is zzz until vtec kicks in. However, drz kinda suck to ride with a pillion and while it can reach Thailand for sure, you be more comfortable doing tourings on a S4.

Both bikes are in hot demand and got resell value, both bikes got tons of accessories to play with. That in mind, that also means both bikes are prone to getting parts stolen (including the bike itself).

Other then the plugs, maintenance for the bike is the same. s4 = 4 bottles of EO, but only change in 3 months. DRZ 1.8L of EO but recommended change monthly. So in the end, roughly the same.

Conclusion, s4 is a damn solid bike liao... but drz is just so much more fun.

DRZ wins hands down on price and maintenance..

But if you're looking for a higher cruising speed, super4 is better..

DRZ has much more handlebar vibrations than Super4..

Resale value wise,

I bought a 07 DRZ at $10.5k in 2008, I sold it for $8.5k this year August..

Resale value super 4 is much better.

I brought my 2002 FU plate spec 2 in 2004 for $7000.

Sold it in 2005 for $6950.

Now spec 2 can fetch at least 4.5k.

I brought my 1997 Ver S for 3k in 2003.

Sold in 2004 at 3.8k...

Now Ver S at least 3k....

As long you dont get into accident the bike dont really depreciate much compared to other models.

I was thinking the same when i passed my 2A. To me it's all about what are you looking for in ur bike. I was looking for the fun factor so it was definitely the drz. After my first few days of riding it i thought to myself "this is a legally illegal bike", just because it puts a smile on my face everytime i ride it..

The only drawback when i was considering buying the bike is that long haul that i would be making back to msia at times. But that didn't deter me, i just got the bike, then downsized the sprocket to suit long distance travel a bit more. Yes, on NSHW always kena bully by the S4's weaving pass me but so what, as long as i enjoy the ride, i'm good.

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

IMO I rather get a new Revo........

needa consider replacement of wear/tear components, aging bike & parts, COE left etc.......

Wear & Tear consist of bleeding brake fluid, check brake hose, normal servicing... (spark plug, EO, Oil FIlter, Air filter), fork oil, suspension, battery, wirings, tires, chain & sproc, brake pads etc..........

You forget the part where even 2B bikes will weave pass you huhuh but yeah, for Singapore, DRZs make more sense than S4s because if you need to go anywhere more than 130, you're doing something wrong huhuh. Still to each his own la.

I wonder how DRZs fare when travelling long distances, maintaining 160km/h, will there be dire side effects?

Im guessing these bikes go for about 400k first hand?

400k can buy flat..better..4 room can get..heh

anyway depending on what u want like the bros here say is true..DRZ for more fun, S4 for better long distance cruising speed. Some pple can tahan and cruise 100 km/h all the way while others have to fly 150-160km/h here and there..Anyway That doesnt mean drz cannot travel far, just not as fast and bear in mind the fuel tank are diff size altogether. If u going long distance everyday mean visiting the pump station every 3 days or so for a DRZ.. to each his own but i dont think u will go wrong with either bikes as they are are reliable, ez to maintain and gd resale value..cheers and gd luck in ur choice..
