Hi Guys!

I've short fingers, so if I follow the free play allowance recommended by the owner manual, it's still too far away for me. So i increased the free play and it is exceeded the recommendation from the owner manual, gear changing is still smooth, acceleration is fine too. But I am worry will there be any side effect if too much free play?

Thanks.

No. But generally, the more your free play, the more you will tend to throw your clutch.

I don't really know how to say this but i find the free play don't really make a difference when it comes to the biting point. Its basically like this.

Alot of free play = Shorter length to biting point, half clutch, but same distance as little free play to fully engage the clutch. Then alot of play when fully released.

Basically,

Alot of free play:

Clutch in >>>>>>>>> Half clutch >>>>>>>>> Fully engaged gear >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fully released

Little Free play

Clutch in >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Half clutch >>>>>>>>> Fully engaged gear >>>>>>>>> Fully released

The half clutch to a fully engaged gear, the distance will always be the same no matter how much much freeplay you have.

Thanks for the reply, I am glad to hear that. I will go easy on the clutch then. :)

Haha. Yes, that's what I thought too, but manual stated the free play allowance that really bothers me, so I better clarify here. Sometimes I just simply hate the manual, they tell you this but never explain why. Hahaha.
