hi...to all thhose go jb often... u all got follow traffic rules there? like speed limit or red lites or signalling n change lane properly (like learn in bbdc). for me red lites i stop. speed limit hard to follow, even in sg. but in jb i exceed by more than 20- 30 km/h. lane change i anyhow. n btw some of the traffic lights i dun understan.. like green arrow ahead means u cn make u turn/ left/ right turns?or turning u must stop n wait even no incoming vehicle?

same rules apply for both countries... if u choose not to follow and something happens, blame it on yourself. green light with green arrow means can go ahead can turn.. but always on the lookout as there might be people who beat redlight cause they simply bo chup .

I tink S'pore customs dont care where you go after leaving the checkpoint. They just wanna know when you leave and enter S'pore.

But not stamping your passport when you enter JB can be very risky.

This morning Straits Times reported on a couple jailed in M'sia for not having their passport stamped. They were nabbed when trying leaving M'sia.

Maybe these JB custom officers have grudges against S'poreans..or maybe they have nothing better to do..So they dont chop passports to get S'porans in trouble.

brudders ...

nv chopping ur passport when going into or out of any country is an offence. it's just that malaysian customs are sometimes too lax in enforcing their security. try to enter any other country without giving ur travel documents and see where u end up ?

in singapore, if foreigners are caught without any travel documents proving that they come in legally, i think, minimum sentence is 3 months imprisonment for illegal entry.

but why do you not want to have proof that you enter malaysia? it's a proof that you have entered the country at a certain time and date and if something happens during that time, you have evidence that you are in malaysia at the point of time.

no offense to anyone but i personally think that the riders that joined in the malaysians' queue intentionally are juz plain lazy. if lazy to queue up and wait .. then juz go in during the time when there's least number of bikers ..

what i meant bro ...

say that on the 1st Feb , 10.00am to 2nd Feb 10.00am , you are in jb ... and dunno what happens, maybe someone use ur number plate on another bike in Singapore and incurred a summons, say on 1st Feb 12.30pm ... while you are in Malaysia. How do u prove that you are in Malaysia at that point of time and not in Singapore when the offence occured ?

juz a scenario to think of ...

I strongly discourage you guys from entering JB without chopping your passport.

1) If you guys are kena caught, there will be a fine of SGD3000.

If you do not have the money, u will be FORCED to call your someone to deliver the money to jb custom. They will normally check for SG registered plate at the second hump.(If they are free :cheeky: )

2) If you (choy, touch wood) kena rob or any happen at jb, you cannot even seek the police for help. You will be trated as an illegal immigrant.

This information is from my gf's dad whose working at ICA.

1 time never kena caught doesn't mean that you will be so lucky everytime.

I do see before when the JB officers are really so eng to check the bikes.

So good luck for those who still want to try their luck without chopping their passport.

what is the world coming to...in order to save that few mins, you ppl are willing to risk eating curry rice in johor?

Of course the singapore side doesn't care if u got malaysian stamp or not.. each country's immigration only cares about who comes in n leaves the country. Take for instance, if somehow u can exit from woodlands, then not enter johor, take boat to indonesia..

Back to the passport topic, read newspapers oso have brain to see that it's not worth taking the risk to not stamp passport lah.. You dun wanna play by their traffic rules, kena fine nvm..come back in body bag then jialat. Worse still, illegal immigrant kena accident and cannot be repatriated easily.

Another note for newbies to malaysia: there u can't turn @ traffic junction unless got arrow. Say only green light, doesn't mean can turn if the green right arrow not lit.

I think he means that you must wait for a green arrow to appear before turning at a junction.

At M'sia traffic lights usually there are 2 sets of red, yellow, green lights. One for straight and the other for right-turn.

So even if green light for straight going vehicles, you cannot turn right if the right-turn arrow is red.

ya correct. nw i oso kinda understan.... but there are very few red arrows. its usualy jus the red light instead of the red arrow.

back to the pasport issue, hmmm... im still unclear wat u guys saying. nvm, today i will go jb again n see wat will hapen. (no in n out chops). so u mean if u got only ONE (exit or enter)chop, u replace n make new pasport to avoid getting caught? if dun hav both chops u are qte save?

A country's immigration only cares about who enters and leaves the nation. Not where they come from or where they go to. Techically, the causeway is international territory, no-mans land, since u have exited a country n have yet to enter another. Same goes when you get off a plane and have not cleared immigration.

If u have both entry and exit stamps

=Entered and left country legally

Only entry

= Entered legally, left illegally

Only exit

= Entered illegaly, left legally (which is impossible unless the officer sleeping)

No stamp

= Illegal immigrant AND emigrant

eh bro noting la.... same like mrt...no entry no exit. both illegal so u safe n nxt time u go thru mrt gate again, card works fine. if u dun have either 1, card got problem n u must see the mrt officer.same 4 pasport, onli mrt use softcopy proof (computer memory) n immigration use hardcopy proof (chops). go aredi, noting happen. but of course i wont do it again. first time i do oso was unintentional, i joined mesian queue.

btw tml i goin again wash bike topup n buy games. hu wan follow? ard 1030am 11. pm me.

I thank God very much for making me slip out somehow from the queue when coming back from jb. at first i planned to join the queue n chop my pasport n tell the mesian immigresen dat they forgot to chop wen i came into mesia. i thought dat was jus a small ting... until i read papers n hear ppl tellin me that it cn land my arse in jail n oso burn the ozone layer in my bank!!!! so i thank God very much for making me slip out of the queue somehow n keeping my mouth shut.... so i conclude:

1)honesty is a good, not the best policy.

2)dont tell wen asked.

3)also avoid the police although innocent.

everybody, including me, must know this by now. but humans r forgetful n need constant reminder now n then.
