Its the reason y i will try not to store my bike will fully use it day / night. Rain / shine. Dont really care much about the mileage or the resale value as it sucks.

Imagine my busa only cost $12k if sell this year and will bottom till $8k. I bought it at $23k

For me not worth it to keep buying updated bike. Even not worth it to buy car. If i do that i will be in a knot with endless loans. It will nvr end.

Even so malaysia bike price is kinda high but think again, there will be an end to the loan. Where in singapore, juz keep paying. No end.

Will buy a second hand car and pimp it. I like muscle car look. Change engine. Turbo it. Will also find a secure storage place. Wjere i could swap vehicals. In malaysia.

Bike shop only care the machine can move or not, if can move, sell it at jacked price to the next sucker. Mileage low usually means bike has not much wear and tear, so can sell higher than an every day used bike. Simply put, not worth buy anything that's bigger than a kup because Singapore is so small, the little bike can get you anywhere here almost as fast as a much more powerful bike, sometimes as fast and at several times less the cost.

You bought it because you wanted to, not because its worth it or not. Correct?

Honestly i bought a class two

- to boost my ego

- seriously its lot more safer as driver change thier mindset. Even more if u r on a red ducati 1198 or harly davidson.

- Of coz bigger the bike the better handling and better brakes. We still travel at the same speed limit

- for most , our bikes here can only travel to thailand unless u have lots of finacial support. Here is where singapore has an advantage. As most of us could buy a big bike unlike in malaysia or thailand.

Cars are no big deal in malaysia or thailand.

Wrong... I bought it coz its worth it n i can afford it... True dat little bike can bring me to anywhere in sg but mine is nt for local use only.. Bought it last september n ive rode her to Pattaya n gonna bring her to e twisties of genting, ulu yam, cameron, bukit tinggi n frazier hill soon n nxt year to MHS, Laos, Cambodia n Vietnam... Juz e tot of it already make my saliva dropped :) ... Once completed, time to sell n get new bike n plan for touring again.. U see, with my ride, i can go anywhere i want without nd for me to think much but it will b diff if i ride a little bike... :) ... N of coz pple will say its diff to ride big bike in sg due to e congested road but all e years riding a big bike i dun have dat difficulty.. So wat if i cant lane split fast enough or quick enuf like a little bike ?? Most to most, its only 2-3 mins of difference only but e joy of riding big bike is priceless n im enjoying every single moment riding her be it in sg or across e border... Even i 1 day i decide to buy a car, i'll still gonna ride a big bike too coz e feeling/passion of riding is totally different :) ...

Who knows down e rd i'll get a sport bike for track/local use, goldwing for touring with my wife n car for holiday with family... I work hard so that i can enjoy e fruit of my labour n not when im bedridden then regret... :)

Yeah....the small bikes are really expensive here. Just does not make sense. Do you think it is the dealer who is jacking up the price? If so, why is the dealer jacking up the price so heavily only for the small bikes ? Any ideas anyone? For example, the Duke 200 is 4 times as expensive!! If I consider the 150% duty on these bikes in SNG, the machine price should only 2 times that of the price in India. I think the dealer is doing his bit to make our lives a little more miserable.

All in all, I have understood now that the government here is enjoying ripping off the public when it comes to buying vehicles. I understand the need for control (and I am all for it)...but what is the point of control when you can get rid of it by paying thousands of dollars (COE) and getting what you want eventually? If you want to limit the number of vehicles, distribute the limited number of COEs amongst the needy instead of selling it to the highest bidder!!!

This scheme favors the government and is only affordable by the rich. And don't get me started on the 150% duty....there is no need for this at all!!! Again, in the name of control, the government is ripping off the people here.

No intentional flaming my friends....It is just unfortunate.

Peace.

cant blame the fact that if everyone were to own a car....our city will be very congested. If u have been in Jakarta...u'll know what I am talking abt.

Price of small bikes r high coz there's always a demand for it... Do dealers care ? Nope, as long they make $$... Mayb on bike price they win but for parts, we consumers can now get e oem aka genuine parts easily online... Dealers/distributors or wateva u want to call them, hope they will wake up... B4 i get e parts that i need, i'll compare e prices... Decade ago, we got no choice but to rely on this puckerz but now not anymore...

Wateva that e gahmen do to "control" things, there's always s loop hole in e system... So back to basics, can afford - buy, if cant, then duduk tiam2 sua...

Yup. Dealer, distributer is juz the middleman. I could get stuff way cheaper then what shops selling. Juz have to wait a lil longer to get the parts to my door.

Juz to give example... My brake pads r due in e nxt servicing of 18K km n now im at e 16k km... As im sceptical to use e after market brake pads, i decide to buy e oem n checked e price at my bikeshop... They got e brakepads from Ever-Not-Shine priced at $290 a pair for e front only... Didnt ask how much for e rear though... Got it online, exactly same products aka part nos, at e price of S$250 for front n rear which includes shipping n gst coz fellow gtr rider helped to purchase for few sets thus e gst imposed... Total savings shud b more than $100...

Nxt gonna b e wheel bearings for front n rear so when time to change tires, can change e wheel bearings one shot...

Having rode a bmw b4 have tot me on how to b prepared for all tis necessary things which we riders often overlooked... At PML , my mech wud advised me in advance if certain items needs to change during e nxt servicing so im prepared coz e charges r not cheap :)

That's why I say SG only, if go up north then yes, I know the highways, the mat rempits and how fast other vehicles go, you will need the power, besides the longer you're on the highway, the more chances something bad might happen because of fatigue so good to reach faster. I pillion all the way to Thailand before, it was horrible but still an experience I will not forget.

I understand, when I get my class 2, it is simply another step to serve a need for a high or rather more of it, a high none other can hit, you can't feel it with 4 wheelers. Its a feeling I cannot really describe, all I know is that I love riding. Ego or glamour or logic is just secondary. Its dangerous but that's the very reason why its fun.

Even if im gg to use for sg only, i'll still gg to get a big bike... Little bike dun make me feel safe... My kakis never feel pressurised to reach our destination fast... If any of e member feels too tired, we'll stop for a while then continue... Pple tot got big bike only can straight away ride very far... Rider needs to b physically n mentally prepared n it also requires high level of discipline...
