my bike's insurance is coming to an end soon. i am planning not to renew it as i won't be able to ride it for a few months due to some reasons. can i just leave my bike at the car park without any insurance? i will continue paying for the road tax and i don't intend to lay up the bike.

thanks for your advice in advance.

You will not be able to pay road tax without insurance coverage for the period of tax.

Why not just lay it up? Unless you are thinking of riding without insurance sometimes. o_O

damn i forgot that without insurance coverage you can't renew road tax. thanks for the reminder.

after lay up i will have to send it for inspection in order for it to be on the road again right?

i am not thinking of riding without insurance sometimes, i am aware of the dire consequences of doing so. :thumb:

Yes, you will need to send it for inspection. And you need to tow it there, not ride it.

You can cancel the insurance one week after you renew the road tax!

Or three days before you renew your road tax, you buy the insurance. Once the road tax is purchased. You can cancel the insurance after three days.

Remember to buy third party insurance....so that the cancellation cost will be minimum.

This way you will save on the $$$ of the insurance where you will not be riding anyway.

If the inspection centre is 20 meters from where the bike is laid up, can I push it there or still must tow there ? :)

Can push there. Once I've pushed my bike which was under lay up from near Jurong point to STA Tuas, no issues.
