Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting my license soon so that I can attain 2A more quickly.

1. I currently hold an SAF 2B, which I suppose is not convertible.

Other than the experience handling both bike and traffic, will this help in any way, if I'm going to register for 2B?

2. If I don't intend on purchasing a bike yet, does the one year probation period before registering for 2A require owning and using a bike, or can I simply wait out the one year without doing so?

Any advise is much appreciated :)

I thought the SAF licence can be converted?!?!

My ex-classmate got his bike licence in NS because he was in some Recco unit.

Go ask first before registering for your 2B course.

Question 2.

No need to ride or own bike during the 1 year before the 2A lesson.

Yup, I was a recce too. I have been told their conversion requires a completion of ~7000km, which is practically impossible with our vocation... so yup.

But then I was wondering if some lessons can be omitted, or something along those lines perhaps.

I have a friend who was an MP riding a Class 2 bike during his NS service. But after he ORD, he could only convert to 2B MAX. Nothing more. But best is to check with traffic police.

When i asked my friend, he found this system fair. Haha. I thought it was unfair as well. He was telling me there are others who similiar to him, like those only got 2B army, all cannot. So he was like saying his 2B conversion was better than nothing.

military license can be converted if you have 7k mileage, accident free also. If you dont have a 2b, you'd be given one. if you have a 2b and you can upgrade, meaning you have passed the 1yr, then you'd be given a 2a. 2A to cls 2. same.

For learning 2b, with ur experience in handling a recce bike, it would be an great advantage.. and as for 2a, there is not stating that it is mandatory for u to ride a 2b bike for a yr before 2a enrolment, so it would not be an issue for u no worries bro..

its been so long...
