Would a 40GB hard disk be of interest to you?

I've had the same need before and asked shops in Sim Lim. One shopkeeper told me that there wasn't any demand for anything under 40GB.

You can try those used laptop shops at Peninsula plaza. I remembered going there to sell away my old laptop to this particular shop on the floors other than Level 1 -- but I can't remember the name.

320Gb @ $175 is a good deal.

i got mine 250Gb @ $180 during 2006 Dec Sitex.

actually when buying a external HDD, the most impt is the casing & not the HD.

most peepz often get a 'branded' HD & a cheap casing, it's wat i will not recomend.

brand of casing tat i'll recomend:

1) MoMo-Bay

2) NexStar

i'm using e NexStar with 250Gb (3.5") in my house, (it comes with a 4 USB port in it).

for my work, i uses the 100Gb MoMo-Bay (2.5")

& i can say it never fail mi YET.

Dude, for external harddisk. It is always best to look for durable and good brand HD, Seagate, Maxtor are the good brands.

The reason because external harddisk will mean its not firm locked like a laptop or desktop computer, so there is lots more vibrations than normal computer, getting a cheapo harddisk will only mean it heat up too fast and crash.

Also, getting a decent HD casing is desirable. Think of what you looking for, need adaptor? Direct plug in? Fire wire? USB type? These are the main objectives, getting a brand that you know is also prefered and having the service center based in singapore are also encouraged. Also, ask the range of capacity that the casing can support. Not all casing can support up to 320 gb, or 700 gb. Ask, if you din ask and you bought a higher capacity harddisk, can only use the maximum size that the casing can support, not the harddisk can support.

2.5 3.5 size doesnt really matters actually, If you going for more portable, go for 2.5, if its going to stay at home for good, buy a 3.5 with stand.

Capacity of the harddisk is very subjective, I recommand you consider of what you going to put inside the external, though the more the merrier, it also means that the moment the harddisk crash, everything is lost. Buy a size that suit you and the pricing wont be that high, also you wont be that heart pain if the hard disk crash.

For your info, 40gb harddisk is very hard to find now, 60gb also hard.

Hope this helped u.
