19km/L for your FC is perfectly normal.. BTW, how you get your 14.5 to 275km?

normally i'll fill it full, use until reserve is blinking continuously wihn bike is upright, then go pump until brim.. then try another tank, using the same petrol station's pump with the same positioning of the nozzle..

wanna get accurate FC, you need to get all the variables constant first.. eliminate all the variables and yo would have more accurate FC.. then try riding your bike in a different style for the next full tank.. you'll get a different FC..

your FC should be more or less in between 18-21km/L..

just remember:

Power = High FC

Good FC = No Power!!

wah 95km.h at 5.5RPM ? the norm for super4 is 95+ at 6RPM. maybe some do differ.. pls advise if wrong.QUOTE]

Normally I will up to 6th gear when the speedo is at 85km/h. So By the time it reach 95km/h, the RPM also somehwere around 5.5k +/- 1. Even I reach 100km/h, my RPM is at 6k. Therefore, if I open Vtec it should be 105-110km. Normally I dun open vtec that because every morning the traffic is damn horrible. No chance. Haha. Unless during midnight going back home from town at weekend.

haha last week mine last me till 330km b4 reserve n pumped closed to 15l. i travel 110-140km/h on highway every day. some settings gives good fc when open vtec. spec 2 opens early somemore.

stay calm and carry on...

My full tank now hit 300km++ then hit reserve completely.. got open vtec sometimes. idle rpm is 1k +/- 100.. If FC gets lower than 300km for me then its time for me go wash and tune carb and clean air filter.. My best FC clock so far is 320km hit reserve completely with open of vtec sometimes. Bike is vtec 1

Acceleration power is not important than a good perfect braking system to prevent an accident.

bro, i do not know why your's 19km/l but maybe it is normal... i am riding a vtec also but mine also like gene usually hit around 25km/l and my max was about 27km/l.

the previous owner (my elder brother), who is 100+kg, also had his FC (on the same bike) around 23-24km/l.

probably your carburetter need to wash alr? or probly you need to do a valve clearence to clear the particles in the valves? I am not too sure about it... but i guess a normal vtec's (whether spec 1, 2 or 3) FC is around 21-27km/l and we should usually hit the reserve tank only after 300km (unless you didn't pump your tank full - 15l + 3l of reserve).. if 20km/l and below you gotta check it out with the mechanic, see what he says...

as for riding habits, i was told by my friends that it's better to change gear whenever your rpm hit around 3.5-4 (to protect your engine and help FC, even though I am not too sure how true is it), unless it's the top gear... NEVER DRAG YOUR ENGINE! thou i know most of us know... but sometimes we drag it without our notice... =p

well... tat's juz my 20 cents worth of thought... hope it helps and not make you worry too much abt it... i suggest u ask the mechanic when you go for next eo change if it really matters you a lot... =)

In that case I might be going to do a full services. Anyone got any ideas how long does it take to do flushing, wash and tune carb, change plug and air filter?

Since tyre pressure affect the fuel consumption, how often you guys check ur tyre pressure?

Twice monthly for me.

It is better that you monitor how much air escapes from your tyre on a weekly basics and from there you adjust your air pumping frequency.

Logically, if you have a heavy load, you'll need to pump more frequent.

may i know wat is ur riding style? do u drag gear by gear? if almost every gear u drag to 5k to 6k rpm, its perfectly normal to get 19km/l. if change gear between 3k to 4k rpm, shd b able to get 20 - 21km/l. so, do take note of ur riding style. n the type of traffic encountered? highway travelling normally give better FC then heavy city traffic hold ups.

for bike parts, did u lub ur chain? condition of chain n sprocket? insufficient lubrication of chain will oso leads to sluggish performance hence will cause u to open throttle. bearings oso will have alittle effect but is almost minimium.

n lastly, frequent servicing of engine oil, spark plugs n air filter will oso keep ur bike in good working condition.

cheers...
