guys vtec1 do not have reserve switch? new to cb400 family.. then when do we know it is using reserve?

Vtec got no reserve switch. When ur fuel gauge starts flashing non-stop means u had oredi enter the fuel reserve zone. :)

Have the total distance u ve travelled since the last time u pump petrol eg 300km.Take note the total petrol u ve filled presently eg 15L.

FC= 300/15= 20km/L.:thumb: To improve depends on ur riding style, petrol u used or ve something to improve the efficiency of ur combustion.

If u ride mostly at nite wil improve FC. At nite has higher dense air so improve efficiency of ur engine.

Juz my opinion, if anyone has other or better ideas do correct me. :cheeky:

Ya its a standard FC for S4. But some of our brothers here can hit 400+km bf res. Tat is sometin my PB1 has nvr bn able to achieve so far.

I ve a fren riding spec1 hitting 450km bf res. Dnt knw whether true or not. He told me he pickup vry slow, chnge gear 3-4rpm n top speed at 80km/h even on e xpressway!

He vry rarely opens his vtec. I tink urs can be better if u dnt always open e vtec n b chill on ur riding style:cheeky: :thumb:

how to know vtec open without the indicator ??

Me riding PB1 n never try Vtec Version... Somewhr in other thread ppl wil b discussing bout it.

If i'm not wrng, u wil feel thr wil b a sudden boast of speed whenever e vtec opens. During tis time, thr wil b an increase in both fuel n air suppled to the engine for higher power.

Tis wil in turn increase FC. My 2cents of knowledge, if i'm wrng again correct me:cheeky:

Dear fellow s4 riders,

Recently my PB1 has seen a dramatic drop in FC. Also sometimes when i throttle i can feel that the power delivered is very jerky. like got something stuck somewhere blocking it. So far i've changed EO, Oil filter, air filter, spark plug, service and tune carbs, service radiator and changed my starter motor. All done within last 2 weeks. My mech still can't find the problem.

Please help if you've encountered the same problem before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Cheers :thumb:

Check if any water accumulated in Fuel Tank.. It happen to my previous bike B4.. Water vapour comes from Petrol Stn when filling. Expecially during raining season rain water may enter storage tank and end up in our bike when fill-up.... That's why petrol tank get the rust inside....

I noticed most of the machine can get best FC on the following:

1) Weight of a person riding

2) Gradually open throttle and not over throttle

3) Kick to high gear as fast as possible

4) Tyre pressure optimised

I realised most of the time, I can move off my bike at second gear without the need for first gear.

i might be wrong, but i think moving off from gear 2 can wear out clutch prematurely.

I see some of u guys having 300-350km per tankful (abt 15 litres) before spare. Some even claim 395km/15lits. My Spec 2 2003 only manage 265km/full tank(15 litres) even after service and electronic tuning my carburator.. Idling is also Ok at 1000-1100k.. Smooth after tuning but consumption improved only from 255km. I'm above average rider, riding about 120-140km/hr if road permits ..

Any secrets to share how to get such a high mileage.

Hi everyone, Im kinda new to this thing. Im riding a spec 1(FR plate). Just bought it 4 months back. The fuel consumption in the beginning used to be 300km before hittin reserve. Now its like 250km den it hits reserve. Can anyone tell me why? I ride as per normal, changing gear at 4 or 5 rpm. My tyre pressure is ok, sprocket ok. Issit becos the carb pin needle or sumthing? Due to wear and tear.. Cos tsts wat i heard from sum ppl. How much will it cos me? My budget not tat big. :sian:

hey bro, i used to have that prob. 250 -260 km my vtec 1 will reach reserve. i went for carb servicing, change the pins, service air filter, it was well worth it. my bike now reach reserve when i have travelled about 340km. there are other factors affecting fc too, like chain lubrication, pressure of tyres, the way u throttle(throttle happy) but its best to bring ur bike to a shop for further checks.
